Ned Eckersley departs at Chester-le-Street as Ben Aitchison puts an end to his stand of 109 with David Bedingham.
But it cannot stop Bedingham, who two overs later reaches his double century.
Rhodes b Siddle 26 (Warwckshire 34-2 v Essex 295)

A first wicket for Aussie paceman Peter Siddle on his first Essex appearance of the summer - in his second over.

Robbie White tries to punch Jordan Clark through the off side but gets an inside edge onto his stumps.
It's been a fine innings from the 25-year-old and his stand of 133 with Sam Robson has put Middlesex in the driving seat.
Northants v Glamorgan 407
Chris Cooke is the last man to go for Glamorgan for a brilliant 136.
The visitors have a hugely competitive, and potentially match-winning first-innings score at Wantage Road.
Leics 233 v Somerset 102-4
Somerset nightwatchman Jack Leach has finally fallen.
The England man is bowled by Ben Mike for 26. But he's worked Somerset back into the game at the County Ground along with captain Tom Abell (34 not out).
Barnard c Moores b Patterson-White (Worcestershire 355-9 v Notts)
Worcestershire allrounder Ed Barnard is gone for 58 as the Pears innings nears a conclusion - although skipper Joe Leach is still there, so who knows?.
244 runs in just four innings for Barnard this season. Not to mention his eight wickets in two matches.
The England Lions man from Shropshire has made an excellent start to the 2021 season.
Sussex 168-5 v Yorkshire 150
Just what Yorkshire needed - two wickets in three balls at Hove.
First paceman Duanne Olivier castles Tom Clark for 33, then spinner Dom Bess removes Tom Haines for 86 in the next over. Haines tried to cut the England man away but it was too close to him.

Durham's David Bedingham is the country's leading run-maker this season.
Having reached 170 yesterday on his 27th birthday, the South African has now moved on to 193.
His partnership with Ned Eckersley is also worth 100.
That is the third century stand in a row from Durham, who were reduced to 7-2 after 2.2 overs yesterday morning - and Bedingham has been involved in all three of them.
Bedingham is now on his highest score, beating his 180* at Trent Bridge two weeks ago.
Having reached 193 he is also Durham's highest scorer in first-class cricket against Derbyshire, beating Paul Collingwood's 190 in a draw at Derby in 2005.
But Durham fell just short of a fourth batting bonus point.
Worcestershire 352-8 v Notts
Four batting points out of the maximum five for Worcestershire.
Skipper Joe Leach bludgeons the boundary that takes them there in the 110th over.
But only two bowling points for Notts.
Having had the Pears 216-7 just after tea last night, they will not be happy with that.
Worcestershire 345-8 v Notts
Ed Barnard maintains his magnificent start to the new season.
Following on from his maiden century against Essex, he has so far hit 56 at New Road.
And, despite the loss of his overnight partner Alzarri Joseph for 61, Worcestershire have two overs to claim the five runs needed for a fifth batting point.
Equally another wicket for Notts would get them another bowling point.
Middlesex 143-3 v Surrey 154
It's been the perfect morning for Middlesex at Lord's.
Robbie White (69 not out) and Sam Robson (58 not out) continue to stretch their fourth-wicket stand - 127 and counting.
Surrey are desperate for a breakthrough from one of their pacemen.
Leics 233 v Somerset 80-3

Sussex 151-3 v Yorkshire 150
Sussex pair Tom Haines (84 not out) and Tom Clark (25 not out) have looked relatively untroubled this morning and they've taken their side past Yorkshire's first-innings score of 150.
The hosts will now want a big lead under sunny skies at Hove.
Kent v Lancashire 296-7
Luke Wood reaches his half-century for Lancashire.
His stand with Danny Lamb is now worth 48. Important lower-order runs for the visitors at Canterbury.
Durham 332-4 v Derbyshire
Durham's overnight pair remain uparted at Chester-le-Street.
South African David Bedingham has moved on to 187, while Ned Eckersley is on 26. They have so far put on 90 for the fifth wicket. Another 18 runs inside the next four overs will earn a fourth batting point, before the 110-over cut-off mark.

Alzarri Joseph's innings is over, ended by Worcestershire old boy Will Clarke, who pouches a chance off Zak Chappell.
Northants v Glamorgan 350-8
Glamorgan go past 350 to secure a fourth batting bonus point at Northants.
But they lost a wicket the ball before when James Harris edged Ben Sanderson behind for 17.
Chris Cooke remains unbeaten on 121.
