    Leicestershire 421 & 196-7 v Gloucestershire 275

Another wicket but still no declaration from Leicestershire as skipper Callum Parkinson is run out by Ian Cockbain for three.

The lead is now 342 with 85 overs remaining.

    Joseph lbw S Cook 0 (Worcestershire 326-8 v Essex 561-8 dec)

Sam Cook takes a wicket for EssexImage source, Rex Features

Perhaps this one isn't going to be a slow grind to a draw after all.

That's three this morning, and four in the innings, for Sam Cook as Alzarri Joseph's innings lasts only two deliveries.

Dillon Pennington comes out at number 10 to join Ed Barnard.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Bartlett lbw Murtagh 12 Somerset 268 & 123-6 v Middlesex 357 & b117)

Wickets galore at the moment and Tim Murtagh strikes again at Taunton, where George Bartlett is adjudged lbw after attempting an airy waft through the leg-side and failing to make contact.

Somerset aren't out of this yet, though, with Lewis Goldsworthy and the experienced Steven Davies now together in the middle.

    Their target, remember, is 207.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Mahmood st Brown b Carson 7 (Lancashire 147-3 - target 253 v Sussex)

Big wicket and Sussex have a glimmer of hope as night-watchman Saqib Mahmood falls off the bowling of Jack Carson.

That's six in the match now for youngster Carson.

Liam Livingstone joins Keaton Jennings (54 not out) in the middle.

  5. Postpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Leicestershire 421 & 185-6 v Gloucestershire 275

Two more wickets to tell you about from Leicestershire's match at Gloucestershire.

Lewis Hill (38) and Ben Mike (2) have both fallen trying to attack.

The lead is currently 331 with Harry Swindells and skipper Callum Parkinson the new batters in.

  6. wicket

    Cox b S Cook 37 (Worcestershire 326-7 v Essex 561-8 dec)

Typing may be tricky after receiving a jam and cream doughnut...but Sam Cook has his second victim of the morning for Essex, finding a gap between bat and pad to clean bowl Ollie Cox. Alzarri Joseph is the new Worcestershire batsman.

  7. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 123-5 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson bring himself into the attack, replacing Jordan Thompson, but Saif Zaib produces his second well-struck cover drive of the morning to pick up another boundary and progress to 14 not out. The visitors require another 97.

  8. 50 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Lancashire 143-2 (target 253) v Sussex

A fine 50 for Lancashire opener Keaton Jennings, the 29th of his first-class career.

It comes off 105 balls with just four fours. This innings has been all about quick singles and twos.

He looks unfazed out there in the middle with Lancashire needing just another 110 for victory.

    Abell lbw Murtagh 49 (Somerset 268 & 118-5 v Middlesex 357 & 117)

    Tim MurtaghImage source, PA Media

Tim Murtagh has forgotten more about seam bowling than most players will ever know and the 39-year-old remains a respected competitor.

Somerset skipper Tom Abell pushes half forward, but plays down the wrong line and is struck in front - there'll be no half-century for him today.

That is a big wicket for Middlesex, with the home side still 89 short of their target.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Procter c Tattersall b Willey 27 (Northants 234 & 115-5 v Yorkshire 206 & 247)

Jordan Thompson over-pitches and Saif Zaib smacks it crisply through the covers for four.

Both Northants batsmen have now found the boundary, but there is still a long way to go if their side are to leave Headingley with a win.

As if to pove the point, David vWilley produces a superb awayswinger in the next over and Luke Procter can only edge to the keeper.

Game very much ON!!! Northants need another 105.

  11. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Essex 561-8 dec v Worcestershire 313-6

I was just about to type up an entry saying I really can't see a result at New Road unless Essex can somehow force an unlikely follow-on.

But there may be a slither of hope as Sam Cook bowls Riki Wessels for 33.

We've now got a game within a game with Worcestershire 248 behind and with four wickets in hand.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Patel c Bracey b Worrall 44 (Leicestershire 421 & 156-4 v Gloucestershire 275)

    First wicket of the day.

No quick 50 for Rishi Patel who is caught off the bowling of Daniel Worrall.

Harry Swindells comes to the crease. No declaration just yet.

Leicestershire's lead is at 302 now.

  13. Postpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 110-4 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Luke Procter has a crab-like stance, perhaps reminiscent of Shiv Chanderpaul, but there's nothing wrong with his timing as he clips Jordan Thompson away for four.

Four leg-byes follow from the next delivery and Northants are exactly half-way to their target.

  14. Postpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Leicestershire 421 & 156-3 v Gloucestershire 275

Leicestershire's Rishi Patel (44) and Lewis Hill (33) are really accelerating now.

I make it five boundaries since the restart with Hill the latest to hit a maximum.

They're clear batting towards a declaration, question is, what's the target?

  15. Postpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Somerset 112-4 (target 207) v Middlesex

Just like at Headingley, we may see a cliffhanger at Taunton, where both sides will fancy their chances.

A sweetly timed cover drive for four by George Bartlett off Tom Helm is a nice way to open your account.

Home skipper Tom Abell is just three runs short of a 50 at the other end after picking up a couple of runs from the bowling of Tim Murtagh.

  16. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Lancashire 124-2 (target 253) v Sussex

We're about to get going at Sussex.

The clouds have cleared and Keaton Jennings (35) and night-watchman Saqib Mahmood (one) are walking out to the crease.

Some early wickets and things will get very tense.

    Northants 97-4 (target 220) v Yorkshire

    David WilleyImage source, Rex Features

Just a single from the day's opening over by Jordan Thompson, and Yorkshire then give the ball to David Willey against his former employers.

The match at Headingley ia very much in the balance and after a leg-bye before Saif Zaib collects one run off Willey.

Northants need another 123 to win.

  18. 6 runs

Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Leicestershire 421 & 125-3 v Gloucestershire 275

Paul and I were speculating whether we'll see an overnight declaration at Bristol with Leicestershire's lead at 271.

Not the case as Rishi Patel (35) and Lewis Hill (23) return to the middle for the Foxes.

They're not hanging about though. Patel has just smashed Ryan Higgins for six.

  19. Abell to see Somerset home?published at 11:03 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Somerset 104-4 (target 207) v Middlesex

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

The weather forecast is better than the grey clouds over the Quantock Hills suggests and a tight finish should be in store for what is likely to be the final session of an enthralling match at Taunton.

The hosts' captain Tom Abell set up victory with 84 in the dramatic turnaround at Lord's in the first round and was not out overnight. He'll be joined first thing, after the fall of nightwatchman Jack Leach last evening, by one of the men that saw it over the line George Bartlett.

The edges have been under threat through out this match on a seam friendly surface and dropped catches allowed higher first innings scores than perhaps should have been gained.

The ability to hold on to what chances come Middlesex's way will likely dictate the final course of this encounter.

  20. It's rainingpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Lancashire 124-2 (target 253) v Sussex

We avoided much of the poor weather on the south coast yesterday but it looks like Sussex's game with Lancashire will have a delayed start then.

We'll let you know the official restart time when we hear anything, but this could be a long wait.
