    Somerset 185-6 (target 207) v Middlesex

Steven Davies and Lewis Goldsworthy have posted a fifty partnership for Somerset and it looks like they may be on the path to victory now - though their fans may not thank us for tempting fate in that cavalier way.

Davies advances to 29 not out with a cover drive for four and follows that with an easy glance to fine leg from a wayward Martin Andersson delivery.

Can Middlesex conjure up a miracle from this position? Who is the man to produce a magic spell for the visitors?

    Bohannon c Clark b Crocombe 46 (Lancashire 225-5 - target 253 v Sussex)

    Now then.

Josh Bohannon wants this done as he hits three quick boundaries to move on to 46.

But the next over he top-edges a pull shot off Henry Crocombe and is caught at fine leg.

Lancashire are just 29 runs away, with five wickets in hand.

    Dent c Swindells b Mike 9 (Gloucestershire 37-2 - target 348 v Leicestershire)

    Breakthrough!

Right before lunch Ben Mike is given the ball and he strangles Chris Dent who edges down the leg side off his first delivery.

Gloucestershire still need a mammoth 311. I think they may shut up shop and start to block out now.

  4. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Lancashire 209-4 (target 253) v Sussex

Only 44 runs needed for Lancashire now.

Keaton Jennings has moved on to 80 while Josh Bohannon is sitting pretty on 31.

In theory, both could reach their respective milestones, as a neutral I'd quite like that to happen.

Their partnership also stands at 56 runs.

    Pennington b Lawrence 30 (Worcestershire 365 v Essex 561-8 dec)

Worcestershire's first innings finally comes to an end and the two Simons - Harmer and Cook - have to settle for four wickets apiece as Dan Lawrence bowls Dillon Pennington.

It wasn't a great delivery, short of a length, but Pennington missed it as he tried to pull the ball away through the leg-side, having added 48 for the 10th wicket with Charlie Morris.

So, the Essex lead is 197 - will they enforce the follow-on?

    Somerset 169-6 (target 207) v Middlesex

    Streaky.....

Lewis Goldsworthy gets away with one as he tries to drive Steven Finn and edges past second slip for four.

Mind you, the 20-year-old Cornishman did produce one of the shots of the morning earlier on, with an authoritative pull off the ex-England paceman.

Goldsworthy has 22, Steven Davies is 23 not out and together they have added 46 valuable runs for Somerset.

  7. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 157-7 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Northants want to see these two still together at lunch, with only Simon Kerrigan and Ben Sanderson to come.

A single for Wayne Parnell is the only run added in the latest over bowled by Jordan Thompson, and the South African is now 14 not out.

  8. Postpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Lancashire 193-4 (target 253) v Sussex

Just 60 runs required now for Lancashire and worryingly for Sussex, Josh Bohannon looks just as set as Keaton Jennings in the middle.

Bohannon has moved to 20 off 30 while Keaton Jennings may be thinking about a century with 75 from 156.

Henry Crocombe has just returned to the attack for Sussex.

    Somerset 153-6 (target 207) v Middlesex

Steven Davies breaks the shackles with two boundaries in the same Martin Andersson over for Somerset.

The first is steered away past backward point off the back foot, and the second is a glorious drive wide of mid-off.

The left-hander now has 21, partner Lewis Goldsworthy is on eight, and the home side need only 54 more to win.

    Worcestershire 342-9 v Essex 561-8 dec

Simon Harmer's fingers might be a little sore at the end of this Worcestershire first innings. The off-spinner has just completed his 46th over for Essex - but there is still a 'five-for' available to him as they strive to separate the home side's last-wicket pair, Harmer's figures are now 4-81.

    Brathwaite c Patel b Evans 16 (Gloucestershire 23-1 - target 348 v Leicestershire)

A brilliant out-swinger from Alex Evans has Kraigg Brathwaite edging to second slip.

Exactly what Evans deserves after he toiled away in the first innings without a dismissal to show for his efforts.

Brathwaite is a big scalp. Now, can Leicestershire capitalise and get another?

    Lancashire 173-4 - target 253 v Sussex

Josh Bohannon finally gets off the mark with two brilliant cuts for four.

The runs are starting to flow again with Bohannon on nine not out and Keaton Jennings unbeaten on 66.

Lancashire are only 80 runs away now.

    Zaib c Kohler-Cadmore b Olivier 25 (Northants 234 & 136-7 v Yorkshire 206 & 247)

Saif Zaib kicks the ground in utter frustration because that, you have to say, was a loose shot.

The ball, from Duanne Olivier, was well wide of off stump, he didn't have to play at it and only succeeded in edging low to first slip.

Another twist at Headingley where Gareth Berg is the new Northants batsman.

    Somerset 138-6 (target 207) v Middlesex

Attritional fare now at Taunton. A battle of skills and wills.

Steven Davies and Lewis Goldsworthy have added only 15 in nine and a bit over since coming together for Somerset.

Steven Finn - who perked Middlesex up with the wicket of nightwatchman Jack Leach at the end of day three - is now operating in tandem with Martin Andersson for the visitors.

    Lancashire 160-4 - target 253 v Sussex

Maidens from Jack Carson and Jamie Aitkens.

The pressure is building at Hove. Still 93 more runs required for Lancashire.

  16. Postpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Gloucestershire 0-0 (target 348) v Leicestershire

Gloucestershire openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Chris Dent walk out to the middle.

Chris Wright has three slips in for West Indian Brathwaite. The Barbadian has made just one 50 for Gloucestershire so far this summer.

    Northants 139-6 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Northants have lost another wicket since last we checked on Headingley.

Tom Taylor was the man to go, lbw to ball from Steve Patterson which may have jagged back a little off the seam.

Taylor only made one, but new batsman Wayne Parnell has just cracked David Willey away for four after joining Saif Zaib.

    Barnard b Harmer 1 (Worcestershire 326-9 v Essex 561-8 dec)

    Simon HarmerImage source, Rex Features

Three Worcestershire wickets without addition and their first innings is heading for the buffers at breakneck speed.

It's a cracking delivery from Simon Harmer, floated up outside off stump and turning back between bat and pad. Classic off-spin - what a bowler he is.

Worcestershire are 235 in arrears - are we going to see a follow-on?

  19. Declaration - Gloucestershire need 348published at 11:55 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Leicestershire 421 & 201-9 v Gloucestershire 275

Two more wickets in successive deliveries as Ryan Higgins gets a five-for with a caught and bowled to remove Chris Wright for three.

Number 10 Alex Evans is then run out for a duck the very next ball.

Leicestershire seem happy with their lead. The hosts will need 348 with 82 overs remaining in the day.

Six wickets for 76 in the morning session so far.

WICKETpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Livingstone c Rawlins b Carson 3 (Lancashire 153-4 - target 253 v Sussex)

Now this could make things interesting.

Jack Carson has his third of the innings and suddenly this pitch looks very competitive.

Lancashire need 100 to win. Sussex need six wickets.
