  2. Postpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

It may feel like winter, but Lord's head groundsman Karl McDermott has still cracked out the shorts.

    And he's carrying three brooms.

    Tough breed are groundsmen.

Haseeb Hameed mixing up his shot selection perfectly at the moment.

Plenty of well-judged leaves and them some sumptious drives through the offside when the chance presents itself.

He's 42 not out now as Nottinghamshire move towards parity.

  8. Abell leads the waypublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Hampshire 79 v Somerset 60-3

Somerset skipper Tom Abell crashes a pull shot off Kyle Abbott for four to move him to 22 not out.

That makes him the highest-scoring batsman of the day from either side.

  9. Back under way at Trent Bridge and Ageas Bowlpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Rain showers that brought early tea intervals in both Nottingham and the Ageas Bowl have now passed.

They've resumed in the evening sessions of both of those so far low-scoring affairs that if they get all the remaining overs in, are set for a couple of late finishes today.

  10. Third wicket for Robinsonpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Northants 60-4 v Sussex 106

Wicket number 14 of the day has just fallen at Wantage Road and it's a third for Sussex paceman Ollie Robinson.

The 27-year-old bowls Luke Procter for 13 and has figures of 3-23. Surely Sussex can't sneak a first-innings lead?

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Harris lbw b Virdi 101 (Leicestershire 208-2 v Surrey)

All over for Marcus Harris after that maiden Leicestershire ton.

Amar Virdi pins him leg before with some nice bowling around the wicket to the left-hander.

Surrey finally manage to break the second-wicket stand of 195 after plenty of hard work.

  12. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Middlesex 140-5 v Gloucs

Robbie White has been gluing Middlesex's innings together in the middle-order this season and he appears to be doing so again.

One Leicestershire century is scored and another is completed in quick succession.

Sam Evans follows Marcus Harris' example in this tremendous second-wicket partnership worth 194.

It's Evans third century in the past three matches and his second this season against Surrey. It's taken him 198 balls and included 15 fours.

    Well batted!

for Marcus Harrispublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Leicestershire 203-1 v Surrey

    Marcus HarrisImage source, Rex Features

Marcus Harris scores his first century in a Leicestershire shirt.

The Australia Test opener gets there off 185 balls and he's struck 15 fours.

There's a couple of toots of a horn from spectators who've been watching this knock from the balconies of some houses that overlook Grce Road.

Nice touch for the Foxes faithful!

  15. 100 runs

for Rob Yatespublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Warwickshire 209-4 v Worcestershire

Another moment to remember for Warwickshire opener Rob Yates as he registers his second century in as many home games this season.

He follows up his ton against Essex with one here against Worcestershire that's come from exactly 200 balls and included 14 fours.

A fine spell of form for the promising left-hander.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Nottinghamshire 55-2 v Essex 99

They were just over an over away from reaching the tea interval which they will take now that some heavier rain has blown in across the East Midlands.

Notts 55-2 and are 44 runs behind. Joe Clarke survived a tough chance that he edged to Nick Browne at third slip a few overs ago.

Haseeb Hameed meanwhile looks promising so far on 36 not out.

  17. Wickets aplenty on busy first daypublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Northamptonshire 49-3 v Sussex 106

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex at Northampton

Thirteen wickets have fallen in the 53 overs bowled so far today, and with another 41 due to be bowled after tea, Sussex could well find themselves batting again today!

As it stands Northants have their noses in front, and Sussex may well regret dropping the obdurate Luke Procter just before tea.

Ollie Robinson has enjoyed a good day so far top-scoring with 49 not out and taking two wickets. But the bowling honours have been shared by 40-year-old Gareth Berg and Ben Sanderson both of who bowled splendidly taking five wickets each.

  18. Glosters have a grip on Middlesexpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Middlesex 117-5 v Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire have a tight grip on proceedings with both the wickets column and the scoring rate well under control at tea on day one.

Middlesex have been progressing at just over two an over throughout and with three wickets falling in the afternoon, the visitors aren't giving an under pressure batting line up an inch.

The hosts' captain Peter Handscomb was the first to go after lunch - bowled without offering a shot - while Nick Gubbins nicked-off midway through and John Simpson was pinned by what would be the last ball of the session (pictured above).

Robbie White is not out on 25 has three fifties in his last three matches but has yet to bring up his maiden ton - how Middlesex could do with him reaching the milestone here.

The overheads have been a mix of sun and rain and the ball has swung, and seamed on a pitch with a greenish tinge, throughout but the accuracy of the Gloucestershire attack has been relentless.
