  1. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Surrey 190 v Middlesex 130-6

We don;t know much about Blake Cullen's batting pedigree, but the Middlesex youngster middled that one alright, pulling a short ball from Reece Topley to the vacant mid-wicket boundary. The 19-year-old is 11 not out and partner John Simpson has 54.

  2. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 135-4

Somerset have lost another wicket at Bristol as Daniel Worrall strikes with the first delivery of a new spell.

It was a good one too, but George Bartlett did not help himself by playing slightly across the line as the ball shaped from leg to off.

Bartlett made only five, but Tom Abell is still there on 54 not out.

  3. 50 runs

for John Simpsonpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Surrey 190 v Middlesex 121-6

Surrey continue to rotate their four pace bowlers, with off-spinner Amar Virdi still waiting for his chance to bowl.

Jordan Clark comes in and John Simpson pushes away for a single to reach 50 off 76 balls, the 40th first class half-century of his career.

It's been a fine innings thus far, but Middlesex need him to continue if they are to earn a batting point or two.

  4. Restart at 14:25 BSTpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 35-6

Thankfully that shower has passed through quickly at The Ageas Bowl and they'll get going in five minutes.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Critchley c Carse b Rushworth 49 (Derbys 171-4 v Durham)

Matt Critchley falls just short of a sixth half-century of the season as he chips the ball straight to mid on.

It's Chris Rushworth's 29th wicket of the season in another stellar campaign for the 34-year-old.

  6. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 35-6

And now they're going off for rain at The Ageas Bowl.

    So frustrating.

  7. The waiting continues at Canterburypublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Kent 307 v Glamorgan 55-2 - start delayed

The umpires took a look at 14:00. They'll do so again at 15:00.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Swindells c Dawson b Abbott 8 (Hants 233 v Leics 35-6)

There's definitely still plenty of life in the game at The Ageas Bowl!

Harry Swindells edges Kyle Abbott to slip to give the South African his fourth wicket.

That follow-on target of 84 looks a long way away at 35-6.

Don't forget they're into the final day here so if Leicestershire can avoid the follow-on they'll almost certainly salvage a draw.

  9. Somerset lose Hildrethpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 127-3

It's not been a great season so far for James Hildreth and his latest innings has been cut short on 15 at Bristol.

That was a pretty airy stroke and left-armer David Payne brought the ball back between bat and pad to clean him up.

George Bartlett is the new Somerset batsman.

  10. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Notts 153-3 v Worcs

    Hello old friend.

It's started raining again and Trent Bridge and they're off after just 1.4 overs of the afternoon session.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Andersson c Clarke b Topley 26 (Surrey 190 v Middlesex 98-6)

Reece Topley has been guilty of overpitching today and Martin Andersson drives through mid-off for four as he does so again.

It is the Middlesex batsman's final scoring stroke as the next delivery takes the edge and Rikki Clarke pulls in an absolutely stunning one-handed, shoulder-height catch at second slip.

    Not bad for a 39-year-old.

  12. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 28-5

Play finally gets under way at The Ageas Bowl.

Leicestershire have a huge repair job on their hands after Kyle Abbott and Mohammad Abbas tore through their top order before lunch on Friday.

Harry Swindells and Rishi Patel are the men tasked with beginning that recovery.

First target - get to 84 to avoid the follow-on and then they should avoid defeat.

A single to Ben Duckett after lunch brings up the 100 partnership with Lyndon James.

A poor ball from Ryan Higgins is turned away through square leg for four by Tom Abell as he reaches a 117-ball fifty. It's his fourth of the season, but he has yet to convert one into a hundred - is today the day?

  15. Postpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 114-2

James Hildreth must have enjoyed his lunch at Bristol.

He takes a couple off David Payne before driving superbly through extra cover for four.

Three runs come from the next delivery and just like that he is into double figures.

  16. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

Play is getting back under way after lunch at Derbyshire, Notts, Surrey and Gloucestershire.

The light is still too poor to resume at Essex.

  18. Umpires confirm Northampton start timepublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Northamptonshire v Lancashire 59-0

Play will begin at 14:30 at Wantage Road, with 59 overs to be bowled in the day, following the loss of the morning session and Friday's total washout.

Alex Davies is 34 not out for Lancashire, with Keaton Jennings on 23, and they need a minimum of six points from this game to return to the top of the Group Three table with rivals Yorkshire not in action this week.

  19. 'Essex will be pleased'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Lunch: Essex 65-2 v Warwickshire 166

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Essex will be pleased with just losing one wicket in the 16 overs possible this morning.

In tough batting conditions Tom Westley was the man to go, edging Oliver Hannon-Dalby behind for eight.

The seamer should have had a second success but Dom Sibley couldn’t hang on to a waist high catch at square leg when Alastair Cook flicked one off his pads.

That could prove an expensive miss as Cook has otherwise looked comfortable in reaching 43 before bad light forced an early lunch.

The forecast suggests further interruptions during the afternoon. Essex will be hoping that they have the time to build a lead of 100 which would put Warwickshire under pressure tomorrow.
