  3. Light halts play at The Ovalpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 8-0 v Middlesex 160

That is a shame. This match may be low-scoring, but it was building nicely towards the prospect of a good finish tomorrow. Clouds, though, have gathered overhead and the umpires say the light isn't good enough to continue at the moment, so the teams will have tea.

  4. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 62-9

Leicestershire's last pair Ed Barnes and Alex Evans are frustrating Hampshire.

They've dug in for 25 balls and are taking valuable time out of the game.

Can they get the Foxes up to 84 so they avoid the follow-on and therefore definitely save the game?

  5. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Notts 255-3 v Worcs

It's raining once again at Trent Bridge and so they'll take tea.

  6. Bad light stops playpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Derbys 186-5 v Durham

The stop-start cricket continues at Derby.

Bad light forces the players off and that'll be tea.

  7. Essex five downpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Essex 121-5 v Warwickshire 166

Essex have just lost their fifth wicket at Chelmsford.

It was a second wicket for Bears skipper Will Rhodes as he removed Paul Walter lbw for 22.

Can Essex gain any sort of first-innings lead? They're 45 behind with five wickets in hand.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Overton c Bracey b Higgins 15 (Gloucestershire v Somerset 176-6)

Cracking delivery by Ryan Higgins and Craig Overton is caught behind and on his way. Lewis Gregory comes out to join Tom Abell, who is quietly going about his business and is 72 not out.

  9. Postpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 6-0 v Middlesex 160

What's the biggest age difference between two opening bowlers in a county match? We don't know, but if you do, tweet us at #bbccricket.

Tim Murtagh, 39, and Blake Cullen, 19, are sharing the new ball for Middlesex as Surrey begin their second innings.

Rory Burns is six not out but Mark Stoneman has yet to score.

  10. Postpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Notts 251-3 v Worcs

That's the 200 partnership between Ben Duckett (127 not out) and Lyndon James (74 not out).

Still no wickets for Worcestershire today.

In the reverse fixture they went a whole day without taking a wicket when Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater guided Notts to a draw.

  11. Postpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Northamptonshire v Lancashire 73-1

Ben Sanderson may be only medium-pace but he takes a lot of wickets for Northants. Not this time, though, as Alex Davies strokes him away through mid-on for his fifth four. Luke Wells has yet to score at the other end, having faced 15 deliveries so far.

  12. Postpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 170-6

Boundaries have been rare commodities of late at Bristol, but there's one for Craig Overton, which takes him into double figures. It's nicely timed through mid-wicket off Ryan Higgins and moves Overton on to 13 not out.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Patel c McManus b Abbott 27 (Hants 233 v Leics 54-9)

    Sixth wicket for Kyle Abbott!

Rishi Patel, top scorer in this innings, nicks the paceman behind.

Leicestershire still need another 30 to avoid the follow-on as last man Alex Evans comes to the crease.

34 overs remain in the match.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Cook c Yates b Rhodes 57 (Essex 100-4 v Warwickshire 166)

Alastair Cook wicketImage source, Rex Features

    Alastair Cook is gone!

The left-hander mis-times a drive and it goes straight to gully to give Bears skipper Will Rhodes a wicket.

Game is back in the balance.

  15. 6 runs

for Walterpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Essex 100-3 v Warwickshire 166

Warwickshire and England fast bowler Olly Stone bangs one in short and Paul Walter swats him away for a maximum.

That's the 100 up for Essex. They're looking handy for a first-innings lead at Chelmsford.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Murtagh c Stoneman b Clark 0 (Surrey 190 v Middlesex 160)

Ethan Bamber tries to pull a bouncer from Kemar Roach and collects four as the ball flies off the edge and over the slips. Emboldened by his good fortune, he flashes another boundary through backward point.

But Bamber is left on 11 not out as Jordan Clark brings Middlesex's first innings to an end with his fourth wicket - but it's another he won't be especially proud of as Tim Murtagh hoists a slow full toss to cover.

Surrey will start their second knock with a 30-run lead. No batting points for either side.

  17. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 162-6

Not a lot to get excited about at Bristol where good bowling by the home side has kept Somerset in check of late.

Ryan Higgins sends down a maiden to Craig Overton, who has seven not out, with Tom Abell still there on 67.

  18. 15:25 BST restart at Southamptonpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 48-8

Good news for Hampshire - they're going to restart in five minutes as they seek those last couple of Leicestershire wickets.

Then they'll have another go with the ball.

Time is going to be a real issue though with only 37 overs remaining.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Simpson c Pope b Clark 68 (Surrey v Middlesex 152-9)

    Ollie PopeImage source, Getty Images

That's the one Surrey wanted and it looks like they will have a first-innings lead at The Oval, despite being bowled out for 190 this morning.

John Simpson's fine 100-ball knock comes to en end as England's Ollie Pope takes an excellent low gully catch as Simpson opens the face to try and steer it down to third man.

Jordan Clark now has figures of 3-41.

  20. 100 runs

for Duckettpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Notts 213-3 v Worcs

Century for Notts batsman Ben Duckett!

It's his first of the season and a 19th in first-class cricket for the one-time England man.

And it's come in excellent time too - off 126 deliveries.
