  1. Honours even in Cardiffpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Northamptonshire 81-2 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The match-up of two sides heading for Division Two has been an even affair in Cardiff though Northants will be reasonably satisfied to be only two down against some largely accurate Glamorgan seam bowling under cloudy skies.

It looked a surprising decision to bat by visiting skipper Ricardo Vasconcelos but he and Emilio Gay saw off testing spells from Michael Neser, in his final Championship match of the year, and Michael Hogan.

It was Timm van der Gugten, in equally accurate form, who struck twice with Gay edging a catch behind for 22 and Vasconcelos on 25 clipping one to mid-wicket.

Rob Keogh and the out-of-form Charlie Thurston saw their side through to lunch with only one alarm when Thurston scrambled back after considering an unwise single to mid-off.

With a poor forecast for mid-afternoon, the teams will be hoping to profit from whatever action we can get in the next couple of hours.

  2. Red Rose in bloom in Leedspublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Lancashire 96-0 v Yorkshire

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Pretty much the perfect start to a Roses match for Lancashire, an unbeaten partnership of 96 for the first wicket between Alex Davies and Keaton Jennings.

Yorkshire won the toss and put their Roses rivals in, and were perhaps a little unlucky not to pick up a wicket.

Plenty of early movement for Dominic Leech, who was trusted with the new ball and bowled well.

The home supporters who are watching in good numbers will be hoping for a better afternoon.

  3. Malan's morning at Worcesterpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Bears 110-1 v Pears

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Warwickshire's decision to bat first looked a great deal more satisfactory as the players left for lunch than two hours earlier.

Rob Yates - up to now their safest batting bet in the Championship - was walking off before the eleventh ring of the cathedral bell, lbw only half-forward to Joe Leach.

Thereafter, Pieter Malan and Dom Sibley assembled a century partnership in contrasting, but equally high-class, methods.

Malan was judicious in his choice of balls to attack, but the margin of error to him - especially in length - was very small, and he has cut and pulled harshly.

His third scoring stroke was a pull off Leach for six over square leg, and 10 more boundaries have followed.

Sibley was more watchful, but equally certain in his strokeplay, although he survived a sharp slip chance off the brisk Adam Finch.

Worcestershire are fielding three spinners on the same pitch used for the T20 game against the Bears won by the hosts on Friday night. All were seen before lunch, but none particularly threatened to take a wicket.

  5. wicket

    Haines c Kuhn b Singh 25published at 13:14 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Kent v Sussex 51-2

Jas Singh has bowled seven balls on his Kent debut - and taken two wickets.

Tom Haines is caught in the slips by stand-in skipper Heino Kuhn and a patched-up Kent side head into lunch with their heads held high.

Lunch taken slightly at Canterbury than the other games after a Kent Covid case caused a late squad reshuffle.

  6. Lunch at Cheltenhampublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Glos 81-3 v Hants

For a good hour or so, it looked set to be Gloucestershire's morning in their winner-takes-all clash with Hampshire as openers Miles Hammond and George Scott were moving along quite nicely.

Then three wickets fell for 11 runs and all of a sudden Hampshire have fresh impetus in their bid to pip their hosts to Division One qualification.

Colin de Grandhomme has been the undoubted star of the show for Hants, taking 2-7 from his eight overs, including five maidens.

  7. Lunch at Merchant Taylors'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Middlesex 86-1 v Leics

Middlesex opener Sam Robson has compiled a virtually trouble-free 57 at Northwood to put the hosts in charge against Leicestershire.

After seven defeats from nine games, however, Middlesex will finish bottom of Group Two whatever the result.

  8. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Glamorgan v Northants 81-2

Timm van der Gugten has struck twice for Glamorgan to give the hosts the upper hand in their Group Three dead rubber with Northants in Cardiff.

  9. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Derbyshire 77-4 v Essex

Essex's morning against the bottom club in Group One.

Four wickets, two of them for Sam Cook, but Leus du Plooy is still there on 27.

  10. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Notts 69-2 v Durham

Slow going for Nottinghamshire after being out in by Durham, for whom their record wicket-taking machine Chris Rushworth has claimed both scalps, Haseeb Hameed and Ben Compton.

  11. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Bears 110-1 v Pears

Warwickshire's morning at Worcester after the shock of losing Rob Yates in the first over

South African international Pieter Malan has posted his best score so far for the Bears, 70, in his 110-run stand with England;s Dom Sibley, who is on 40.

  12. Lunch at the Kia Ovalpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Surrey v Somerset 94-2

Things for both sides to be pleased about at the Kia Oval as Surrey have removed both Somerset openers - Devon Conway and Steve Davies - during the morning session.

But the visitors have played aggressively, ensuring a decent tally on the scoreboard - and Somerset only need a draw from this one to ensure Division One qualification, remember. Surrey must win and hope other results go in their favour.

  13. Lunch in Manchesterpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Lancashire 96-0 v Yorkshire

Lancashire openers Alex Davies and Keaton Jennings go to lunch unparted as Yorkshire's decision to put the visitors in has gone so far unrewarded.

Davies is on 49, just a run short of his second Championship half-century of the season against Yorkshire.

At the other end, Keaton Jennings has hit three boundaries in his more considered 39 off 100 balls.

  14. wicket

    Orr c O'Riordan b Singh 21published at 13:02 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Kent v Sussex 50-1

We're all hoping today will be a day to remember - and it certainly will be for Jas Singh.

He's taken a wicket on his Kent debut - one of five players drafted in due to Covid isolation protocols at the county.

Singh owes a big thanks to Marcus O'Riordan who took a brilliant diving catch to remove Sussex opener Ali Orr on the eve of the lunch break.

  15. 100 runs

100 up for Warwickshirepublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Bears 103-1 Pears

Warwickshire are the first side of the day to post three figures as they reach 100 in the Pears-Bears derby with Worcestershire at New Road.

Pieter Malan has been the main aggressor, having hit nine fours and a six in his 65.

His previous best score in eight disappointing innings for the Bears was only 32 but he's now more than doubled that

England opener Dom Sibley is starting to find the right groove on 38 off 99 balls, including four fours.

  16. 6 runs

for Lammonbypublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Surrey v Somerset 89-2

Group Two leaders Somerset have certainly been aggressive against Surrey today.

It's cost them a couple of wickets but they are keeping the scoreboard ticking over and Tom Lammonby has just dispatched spinner Amar Virdi for a big six.

    Kent v Sussex 40-0

A quick update from Canterbury where Covid-hit Kent have named five debutants against Surrey, remember.

None have been involved in anything memorable thus far, Kent using two of their usual first-teamers Harry Podmore and Matthew Quinn to begin the attack.

They have had no luck as of yet though, Sussex strolling along nicely.

  18. wicket

Hammond c McManus b de Grandhomme 31published at 12:48 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Glos 72-3 v Hants

This is shaping up to be some game.

Gloucestershire have slumped from 61-0 to 72-3 and Colin de Grandhomme has his second wicket.

Having looked so composed for much of the morning, Miles Hammond appeared to get a bit nervy after losing a couple of partners.

He edges behind to wicketkeeper Lewis McManus and Hampshire arguably have the upper hand in this crucial Group Two finale.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Robsonpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Middlesex 77-1 v Leics

A classy half-century from Middlesex opener Sam Robson at Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood.

It's come off just 72 balls too.

He's just lost his opening partner Josh de Caires, though - the son of former England captain Michael Atherton chopped a Ben Mike delivery on to his own stumps to depart after a very patient 17 off 74 balls.

  20. wicket

    Compton c Borthwick b Rushworth 16published at 12:46 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Notts 59-2 v Durham

A second Notts wicket for Durham - and it's a second for the ageless Chris Rushworth on his 35th birthday.

Ben Compton is the man gone, caught by home skipper Scott Borthwick at second slip.

Joe Clarke is the new man in, to join Ben Slater, who looks set on 27.
