The game has turned once again.

  2. Lees for England?published at 16:03 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Durham 117-2 v Glamorgan 97 - tea, day one

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It's been like watching two different games today. Glamorgan were bowled out for just 97 earlier, their lowest championship score against Durham.

The innings lasted just 32 overs with Paul Coughlin returning from injury and taking 4-11 in five overs. He hasn't played since a thigh injury in the T20 in mid June. What a a way to make up for lost time.

There were also three wickets each for Chris Rushworth and Ben Raine. At tea Durham were 20 ahead at 117-0. Alex Lees has 53 and Michael Jones 55. They have made it look so easy. For Lees it is the 52nd time he has reached 50 in first-class cricket and all of this in front of the England scout James Taylor!

Could the Durham opener be on a plane somewhere this winter in a touring party?

    Hill c Hildreth b Davey 29 (Yorkshire 51-2 v Somerset 134)

Yorkshire opener George Hill edges Josh Davey to slip.

Just what the doctor ordered for the visitors at Scarborough.

  4. 'Much needed boost for Lancs'published at 15:43 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

Notts 211-4 v Lancs - tea, day one

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Nottinghamshire supporters have enjoyed both the warm weather and their sides performance with the bat so far on the opening day. The pitch looks a belter, and they'll be eyeing up a sizeable first innings score and plenty of batting bonus points along the way.

Lancashire have plugged away throughout the day, doing their best to contain the run rate and take wickets, Saqib Mahmood perhaps the most unfortunate bowler, he's seen a couple of edges put down today. The dismissal of Lyndon James with the final ball of the session will have given Lancashire a much needed boost.

  8. 200 runs

up for Nottinghamshirepublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 200-3 v Lancashire

Joe Clarke moves on to 40 off 70 balls, as Nottinghamshire seem to be one of the very few sides who have mastered today's batting conditions.

It seems as if Lancashire have ran out of ideas as we approach tea.

  16. Division Three updatepublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

13 wickets have now fallen in less than two sessions at Canterbury.

Kent are 22-3 having skittled Worcestershire for 133. Joe Denly is the latest batsman to perish.

Life is a bit easier for Leicestershire's batsmen - they're 146-2 at East Midlands rivals Derbyshire.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Benjamin c Weatherley b Barker 5 (Warwickshire 11-2 v Hampshire 89)

Poor batting. This one certainly is.

Keith Barker has his second for Hampshire as Chris Benjamin mistimes his drive and edges behind to first slip.

It looks as if we're set for intriguing low-scoring affair at Edgbaston. Should be fun.

    Sam Northeast c Lavelle b Bailey 65 (Nottinghamshire 164-3 v Lancashire)

Ah, I really thought Sam Northeast was on for a big score, but he's caught chasing one and edges behind to the keeper.

Every time Nottinghamshire looks like they're about to get away, Lancashire peg them back.

Good game developing at Trent Bridge now.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Robert Yates lbw b Barker 0 (Warwickshire 5-1 v Hampshire 89)

    This makes things interesting...

Rob Yates lasts just 13 balls before he's pinned in front by Keith Barker.

Is it the sign of things to come, or just a blip? Warwickshire trail by 84 runs.
