    Hildreth c Lyth b Hill (Yorkshire v Somerset 64-3)

    Finally Yorkshire get some reward!

James Hildreth drives loosely at George Hill, gets a big edge on the ball and Adam Lyth clings on to a fine catch over his head at second slip.

You can't say it hadn't been coming.

  2. Postpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Yorkshire v Somerset 61-2

Yorkshire have had no luck since those early couple of wickets.

Jordan Thompson finds the edge of James Hildreth's bat but the ball flies past the slips and down to the rope.

Hildreth and Azhar Ali have both edged their way into the 20s.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

Joe Weatherley lbw b Miles 4 (Warwickshire v Hants 6-1)

Craig Miles has a wicket and that's about as plumb as you can get.

In-swinging yorker, striking Joe Weatherly on the back foot, the umpire puts his finger up immediately.

Good start from Warwickshire who had won the toss and put Hampshire in to bat.

  4. Division Three updatepublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

Worcestershire's batting woes are deepening at Kent. They're now 32-5 after Jack Haynes was bowled by Nathan Gilchrist.

Leicestershire have also lost their first wicket at Derbyshire - Hassan Azad the man to go, Ben Aitchison with the wicket.

    The visitors are 57-1.

  5. Somerset rebuildingpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Yorkshire v Somerset 53-2

Azhar Ali edges George Hill through first and second slip and down to the boundary to bring up Somerset's fifty.

Ali and James Hildreth aren't at their fluent best yet but it's a decent recovery from 14-2.

Yorkshire's pace attack are still looking dangerous in Scarborough.

  6. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 52-1

    It's 50-up for Nottinghamshire.

A fine first hour of cricket, Lancashire were licking their lips when Ben Slater was caught behind for eight.

But since then, Sam Northeast and Ben Duckett have rallied, with the latter now on 38 from 46.

Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland come out to bat for Hampshire.

The former drives for a single for the first run of this match.

  8. 'Beautiful morning in Durham'published at 11:30 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Durham v Glamorgan 63-1

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It's been 51 days since Durham were last in County Championship action. That was a draw here against Notts. They should have played in Chester-le-Street last week but the game against Surrey was cancelled because of one case of Covid in the Surrey camp.

Durham put Glamorgan in today on a beautiful morning. There's a green tinge to the track but the bowlers have not had much luck. Three good shouts for lbw have all been turned down by umpire Neil Pratt.

Chris Rushworth has taken the only wicket so far. David Lloyd fell lbw in the third over for four. My initial thought was he was unlucky to be given out by umpire Ian Blackwell, but a look back at the replay suggests otherwise.

Hamish Rutherford now has 43 and Nick Selman 15 and at 63-1, their partnership is worth 54.

    Ben Slater c Lavelle b Bailey 8 (Notts 22-1 v Lancashire)

    One down!

Just what Lancashire's Tom Bailey deserved, he's been bowling a superb line and length so far this morning and he finally gets Ben Slater nibbling at an out-swinger.

The faintest of nicks and it goes through to the keeper.

Sam Northeast is the new man in, making his home debut for Nottinghamshire.

Great start for the hosts at Scarborough.
