  1. Glamorgan in a picklepublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 7 September 2021

    Durham 503-8 dec v Glamorgan 97 & 138-5

    BBC Radio Newcastle

Chris Rushworth should have had his 50th Championship wicket of the season last night but keeper Ned Eckersley dropped a straightforward chance when Hamish Rutherford edged the bowler behind on 32.

Rutherford was on 71 today and had been batting nicely when he turned a ball from Rushworth to Alex Lees at square leg. In some ways it was a bit of an anticlimactic way to bring up yet another milestone, but Rushworth won't care.

Durham's all-time wicket-taker has now reached 50 dismissals in a Championship season for the sixth time, equalling Graham Onions' record. Simon Brown did it seven times for the club.

Kiran Carlson, one of the two people who could pip Durham's David Bedingham to the title of leading run-scorer this year, received a bit of charity from his opponent when Bedingham dropped a chance at first slip when he was on six.

He was on 14 when Ben Raine eventually bowled him a few overs later, leaving Glamorgan in a pickle at 128-5 in their second innings and trailing Durham by 278. Both batsmen fell with the score on 278.

Rob Yates pushes a single and then a three through the covers in the first two overs as Warwickshire look to make a positive start.

We're in for a cracker at Edgbaston.

    Breaking

    Kent (393) beat Worcestershire (133 & 204) by an innings & 56 runs

Kent take the final Worcestershire wicket just before lunch as Nathan Gilchrist gets Dillon Pennington to wrap up a big victory in Division Three.

Pears captain Joe Leach is left stranded on 49.

Three results so far in this round - all victories by an innings. Convincing.

  4. ESSEX BEAT GLOUCESTERSHIREpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 7 September 2021
    Breaking

Essex (276) beat Gloucestershire (76 & 197) by an innings and three runs

No need to bat again as Gloucestershire's Ryan Higgins (38) is run out trying to farm the strike.

A convincing victory for Essex who are running away with it in Division Two.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 7 September 2021

Gloucestershire are nine down as Zafar Gohar is caught by Essex's Alastair Cook off Simon Harmer for 24.

David Payne is the last man in with the visitors on 188-9, needing a further 12 runs to make Essex bat again.

Elsewhere Durham's Chris Rushworth has his 50th County Championship wicket of the summer for, removing Glamorgan's Hamish Rutherford.

Glamorgan are 129-5, trailing by 277 runs.

And Surrey are nine down in their second innings after two wickets in to balls from Northamptonshire's Simon Kerrigan.

The visitors are 156-9, leading by 237.

A terrific knock from Tom Moores as well, his 50 is brought up with a cracking four off 87 deliveries.

    Nottinghamshire's lead is 308.

Off 149 deliveries with nine fours.

That's his fifth 50 this season. Can he now pass his top score of 69 not out?

It's also the 200 up for Nottinghamshire.

Sam Robson falls just short of David Bedingham's highest score of the season, 257.

Jack Carson gets the wicket as the right-hander goes for 253 after miscuing a shot into the leg side.

Magnificent innings from the Middlesex opener - 356 balls, 30 fours and a six.

In our other Division One match Nottinghamshire remain in control against Lancashire.

Batsmen Lyndon James (48 not out) and Tom Moores (42 not out) have hardly put a foot wrong during their 84-run partnership.

    Warwickshire 116 v Hampshire 89 & 301-9

    That was a 93-run 10th-wicket partnership.

Hampshire lead by 274. I'd say they're the favourites even if the pitch looks very flat at Edgbaston.

    Barker c Benjamin b Holder 75 (Warwickshire 116 v Hampshire 89 & 301-9)

    Finally!

Warwickshire pick up their first wicket of the morning.

It's wide and short, but Keith Barker can't help himself, looping it up to the man at point.

A fantastic innings comes to an end. If Hampshire do win this game, they've got Barker to thank.

  13. 250 runs

for Robsonpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 7 September 2021

    Sussex v Middlesex 491-2

Sam Robson goes on and on.

The Middlesex opener brings up his 250 with a 30th four.

Durham batsman David Bedingham's highest score of the season, 257, is now in sight.

Can he then get to the magic 300?

    Warwickshire 116 v Hampshire 89 & 298-8

    How close can you get?

Warwickshire's Danny Briggs completely bamboozles Hampshire's Keith Barker (74 not out) who misses the ball which goes on to shave the off-stump.

The bails remain attached though and Warwickshire curse their luck.

Barker reverse sweeps the next delivery for four. Hampshire lead by 271.

  15. Division Two updatepublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 7 September 2021

Gloucestershire have dug in a bit against Essex after losing three early wickets in the first hour.

They're currently 160-8, trailing by 40 runs with the new ball available in two overs.

Durham's Paul Coughlin has removed Glamorgan's Eddie Byrom as the Welsh county slowly tick to 107-3, 299 runs behind their hosts.

And Surrey are continuing to build against Northamptonshire. They're on 136-7, ahead by 217.

  17. Division Three updatepublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 7 September 2021

Sam Robson continues on his merry way for Middlesex at Sussex. The opener just moved to 232 with back-to-back fours off Sean Hunt, surpassing his previous first-class best of 231.

    Middlesex are 451-2.

Kent are closing in on victory against Worcestershire. The Pears are 138-7 and still need another 122 to avoid an innings defeat.

And Derbyshire's misery against their East Midlands rivals Leicestershire continues. They're 76-5 in response to the Foxes' 528 all out.
