Time for a quick look at the other two divisions....

Wickets keep on tumbling at Chelmsford where Essex are 158-8 in reply to Northamptonshire's 81.

At Bristol, Gloucestershire are 109-4 replying to Durham's earlier 140.

Glamorgan have pressed on to 340-4 against Surrey after David Lloyd made 121 and Joe Cooke 68.

In Division Three, Kent lost Jordan Cox (2) and Zak Crawley (20) early to be 52-2 in reply to Middlesex's 147.

Derbyshire have reached 315-4 against Sussex at Hove where Wayne Madsen made 111 and Matt Critchley is 68 not out.

Finally Leicestershire were bowled out for 222 against Worcestershire.

  2. Second batting point for Nottspublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 257-6

It's a second batting point for the home team and with Yorkshire shoulders beginning to slump, there is a good chance they could easily pick up a third and who knows, a fourth, if they really accelerate.

This partnership of 84 between Joe Clarke and Joey Evison is really taking the game away from their opponents.

  3. wicket

WICKET Davies b Abbas 4published at 17:00 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Lancashire 6-1 v Hampshire 143

The start Hampshire desperately needed with the ball.

Mohammad Abbas produces an absolutely beauty to remove Alex Davies. The right-armer gets one to pitch and move away ever so slightly and it's too good for Davies as it removes the off bail.

That is high class opening bowling and the visitors will feel they are in the game.

  4. 100 runs

100 for Joe Clarkepublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 236-6

Shortly after Joey Evison clears the boundary ropes and Joe Clarke does it in spectacular style to bring up his century.

Admittedly, it's into the short boundary but that should take nothing away from him as he rocks back to Yorkshire skipper Ben Coad.

Coming off 194 balls, it's a first 100 of the season for Clarke and the 18th first-class century of his career.

  5. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 230-6 v Yorkshire

It's the first six of the day as Joey Evison goes after Dom Bess and hits a maximum.

This partnership, now at 57, is the best of the innings and is slowly pushing Notts into a good position.

At the other end, Joe Clarke is on 94.

  6. Barker's 'Celebrappeal' doesn't please the umpirepublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Lancashire 0-0 v Hampshire 143

An excellent opening over from Keith Barker as he begins with a maiden.

He thought it should have been a wicket-maiden as he hits George Balderson on the pads, but his appeal is turned down.

And the manner of his appeal is none too popular with umpire Peter Hartley, who lets be known exactly what he thought of it with some stern finger-pointing.

  7. 200 runs

200 up for Bearspublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Warwickshire 200-3 v Somerset

    LambImage source, Getty Images

Warwickshire pick up the first of what they hope will be at least four batting bonus points.

But we're 79 overs into the 110 they need to get to 350 in.

Sam Hain (33 not out) and Matthew Lamb (29 not out) have added 61 for the fourth wicket so far.

  8. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 214-6

That drop by Adam Lyth of Joe Clarke feels like a pivotal moment in this game.

Clarke has already added 30 to his score since then and if he sticks around for the rest of this session, he will put Nottinghamshire in an excellent position, having been stuck in this morning.

  9. wicket

WICKET Crane c Wood b Parkinson 25published at 16:25 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

Lancashire v Hampshire 143 all out

Mason Crane is left with no option but to hit out with Mohammad Abbas struggling to move at the other end.

He tries to do that to Matt Parkinson as he advances down the wicket, but he is caught in the deep by Luke Wood.

Crane has played a good hand for his team. His 25 is actually the highest score of the innings and he stayed out there for 101 balls.

143 feels slightly under par. But let's not forget, Hampshire were bowled out for 89 by Warwickshire two weeks ago and won that match by 60 runs.

Lancashire pick up three bowling points, while it was three wickets apiece for Parkinson and George Balderson.

  10. Point on the boardpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 201-6 v Yorkshire

With a single off Dom Bess, Joe Clarke moves to 80 not out as he brings up Notts' 200. More importantly, it's their first batting point of the innings.

  11. Warwickshire giving themselves a chancepublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Warwickshire 181-3 v Somerset

Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes described this fixture as like a cup final...but a very long one.

Already they're having to juggle with the various permutations and face the tantalising prospect that they could put themselves in a position of having the championship race in their own hands.

With Hampshire looking likely to drop all five batting points at Aigburth Warwickshire know if they can get four batting points here, the initiative would be theirs subject to Lancashire not taking maximum points from their game.

The trouble is the Bears haven't managed to reach the required 350 in 110 overs in any game this season and they'll have to accelerate appreciably if they're to achieve it for the first time.

  12. Limping Abbaspublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Lancashire v Hampshire 138-9

Hampshire's last man Mohammad Abbas has made his way to the crease.

The Pakistan bowler doesn't enjoy Mason Crane calling him through for a sharp two as he was only just passed fit after recovering from an injury having trod on the ball.

With his team yet to bowl, the league leaders would be loathe to be without their overseas star when the ball is in their hands.

  13. wicket

WICKET Wheal lbw b Parkinson 5published at 16:09 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Lancashire v Hampshire 132-9

There is magic in the replacement ball!

Matt Parkinson gets Brad Wheal playing forward and Hampshire's number ten is pinned LBW.

He's only made five but he has lasted 40 balls and shown real determination to help his side.

  14. Northants rallypublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Essex 118-4 v Northamptonshire 81

Credit to the visitors for putting the brakes on Essex.

Openers Sir Alastair Cook and Nick Browne started in sprightly fashion and their dismissals rather took everyone by surprise.

Stand-in skipper, Dan Lawrence looked in the mood and had got to 33 with some attractive stroke play before edging a drive to slip.

Simon Kerrigan has bowled an exemplary spell with Luke Procter taking two wickets. But despite putting up some resistance, Northamptonshire will likely have the winter to regret their poor batting display after winning the toss.

  15. Change of ballpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Lancashire v Hampshire 132-8

With Mason Crane and Brad Wheal dropping anchor, frustrations are growing amongst the home attack.

So much so that an old classic is wheeled out. 'The ball's no good!'

Tom Bailey shows it to umpire Alex Wharf and after a brief inspection, a replacement is brought out from the magic box. Let' see if the new one has special powers!

  16. Stevens engineers the afternoon collapsepublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Kent 7-1 v Middlesex 147

After a disappointing morning session, and indeed first hour of the afternoon, Kent ripped through the Middlesex line up to force an extraordinary collapse.

Mark Stoneman and Robbie White appeared to be steering the visitors to an authoritative position but when the former played on to Darren Stevens, chaos ensued.

A relatively docile surface came to life as the hosts appeared to find a little bit more seam movement and some swing as well with the older ball.

All will be judged as Middlesex captain Tim Murtagh will look to use all his experience much as Stevens did the hosts.

  17. Best of the seasonpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 185-6 v Yorkshire

With three off Jordan Thompson, Joe Clarke has now moved to a Championship best this season, going past his previous highest score of 67.

Can he reach a first hundred of the season in the final game?

  18. Not easy scoringpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Lancashire v Hampshire 129-8

Successive maidens to begin the final session of the day at Aigburth.

No batsman has managed to score at a strike rate of higher than 39 so far, so that tells you what a battle this innings has been.

  19. Divisions Two and Three latestpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    StevoImage source, Rex Features

Starting in Division Two where wickets have tumbled so far at both Chelmsford and Bristol.

Essex are 112-4 in reply to Northamptonshire's earlier 81 all out while Gloucestershire are already 42-3 at tea after bowling Durham out for 140.

In the other match in that division, Glamorgan continue to pile on the runs at 255-2 against Surrey, David Lloyd unbeaten on 101.

In Division Three, Kent bowled Middlesex out for 147 just before tea as they collapsed from 121-2. Darren Stevens did the business once again with 4-21.

Elsewhere, Derbyshire are 244-3 against Sussex thanks to 85 not out from Wayne Madsen while Leicestershire reached tea on 171-7 against Worcestershire.

  20. Bears press on, but will need to acceleratepublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

    Warwickshire 161-3 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset at Edgbaston

Honours even this afternoon, as Warwickshire continued to accumulate and Somerset's bowlers continued to plug away, in a thoroughly disciplined performance on what looks a good batting pitch.

Jack Brooks made amends for dropping Dom Sibley off his own bowling straight after lunch by finding a really good away swinger to have him caught behind for 56 after Will Rhodes had chased a wide one from Tom Lammonby.

Warwickshire are well placed, but they'll need to get a move on if they're to pick up four batting points.
