This is the first 50-run opening stand in England against England since August 2018.
Stuart Broad carries on and watches his first ball get mullered off Tom Latham's pads and down to the boundary for four.
Latham then chucks the kitchen sink at a drive outside off stump that just misses the outside edge of the bat.

England will rue not having a spinner. The foot holes will develop. In these conditions with the forecast looking so good I do think it is a surprise.
England have bowled well. There isn't a great deal there for the seamers.
Conway and Latham have looked very solid.
James Anderson goes haring after a straight drive from Devon Conway and manages to knock the ball away from the boundary rope with a slide that ruins his trousers.
Ollie Robinson will resume after the drinks.
It's not been a bad morning for Black Caps debutant Devon Conway.

Mark Burt: The NZ batters already looking like they’re booking in for bed and breakfast. Very comfortable despite good lines from the bowlers. Suspect England will rue the lack of a spinner.
Kumaran Ravendradas: I'm not convinced by England's selection here. In the absence of Ben Stokes, why is our second star all-rounder, Taunton Lara AKA Jack Leach, not in the side? Anderson and Co will find it tough work in this heat.
Make mine a G&T.
That'll be four more, Tom Latham riding the bounce of the ball and working Stuart Broad's latest delivery past a tumbling Zak Crawley at slip.
Broad bowls a bit too straight to Latham but a terrific sliding stop on the boundary from Ollie Robinson keeps the damage to just two runs.

Devon Conway's journey to Test cricket isn't just about qualifying to play for New Zealand after moving from South Africa. He's played plenty of club cricket in England going back to 2010.
Taunton Deane, Vauxhall Mallards, Morecambe and Nelson - the latter as recently as 2017 - are his former clubs. When he was at Taunton in 2010, he played in the same team as Jack Leach.
There is a gentleman in the stands with flip flops on, drinking a can of what I suspect will be quite warm beer, and I absolutely salute him. The dream.
Devon Conway, meanwhile, has a dart at Ollie Robinson and is lucky that the thick outside edge beats Rory Burns at gully and thuds into the boundary rope.

In the last five years New Zealand's batting line-up collectively averages 36.1. Only India are ahead of them with 36.5, with England averaging 29.
Tom Latham, since the start of 2017 is averaging 48.8, the best of the 23 men in Test cricket who have opened on 20 or more occasions.

You'd be tempted to see what the pace of Mark Wood does. These two batsmen have looked pretty comfortable.
A change of ends for Stuart Broad, it seems. I miss the headband.
Tidy enough from Broad as he comes round the wicket but it feels like Mark Wood time...
Robinson was once sacked by Yorkshire. He's now playing for England. You can read his story here.

It has been a decent start from Robinson.
Latham 11, Conway 19
A sign of debut nerves, maybe, as Ollie Robinson oversteps by some way with his first delivery.
His third delivery finds some extra bounce and just nips past the stumps, confounding Devon Conway, before he flicks a couple of deliveries either side of the wicket for a smattering of runs.
A change for England - Ollie Robinson is coming on for his first bowl in Test cricket.
