    Conway 82, Nicholls 13

Edged - and just past leg slip by Devon Conway!

Ollie Robinson trails a delivery down the leg side and Conway chases it and somehow manages to help it past the flying figure of Zak Crawley, throwing himself to his left. To add insult to injury, the ball goes fizzing away for four.

I dismissed Nasser Hussain at age 16 in a county game (Lancs v Essex). Didn't realise how well known he was at that age until Michael Atherton told me in my celebration. Still never as good an ice breaker as my mum being an extra in Monty Python's Life of Brian though.

  5. NZ 152-3published at 56 overs

It's the first day of the first Test of a huge cricketing summer. Let's leave the over rate discussion for one day, hey?

Henry Nicholls inside-edges Anderson into his pads, which brings about a yelp from the close fielders.

Not sure whether anyone has the appetite for a discussion on Test match over-rates at the moment, but based on the day so far we're looking at a finish close to 7 o'clock.

  7. NZ 152-3published at 55 overs

Henry Nicholls hoicks a rising Ollie Robinson delivery away from his nose and down in front of square for an extravagant single. The post tea slumber is starting to hit at Lord's.

    Tight! That was close.

  10. NZ 151-3published at 54 overs

    Nicholls 11, Conway 77

Ooh! Henry Nicholls takes a sneaky single and comes perilously close to being run out at the non striker's. Mark Wood picks up the ball at mid-on and hurls it just wide of the stumps. Nicholls offers up an apology to his batting partner after seeing the replay.

  12. NZ 146-3published at 53 overs

    Conway 73, Nicholls 10

Ollie Robinson steams in to Devon Conway, who settles himself with a whipping leg glance that is well stopped by a tumbling Ollie Pope.

Ollie Robinson will get us going after tea, by the looks of things. He's got 2-25 today after a fine spell either side of lunch.

I got two England captains out in one over of a charity match with long hops - Chris Cowdrey and Mark Butcher. Combined matches as captain of England: two. Surely a record of some sort?
