These two have got to take ownership now and be there at the end. They can't rely on the others coming in.

England need to keep one eye on the Duckworth-Lewis target...

  3. Eng 42-4published at 7.3 overs

Left-armer Isuru Udana bangs it in short and Sam Billings gets over the top of it to pull it for four. Controlled.

That's a good take, Jimmy. Certainly a different test on a difficult pitch.

I don't think this is the worst thing for England. You've got two guys here - Sam Billings and Liam Livingstone - who don't usually get a go in the T20 side. It's a chance for Eoin Morgan to see what they can do.

It's the big wicket of Jason Roy. Sri Lanka are right back in this game.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.3 overs

    Roy c Shanaka b Hasaranga 17 (Eng 36-4)

The rain is starting to fall and Sri Lanka claim a big scalp. Jason Roy reverse sweeps Wanindu Hasaranga four but next ball the spinner has his man. Roy attempts to go aerial down the ground but is caught by Dasun Shanaka. Sri Lanka's players are cock-a-hoop.

It was as if England had not seen a lot of Wanindu Hasaranga before yesterday. He bowled really well and put England under pressure. He was attacking the stumps and that always gives you a chance.

There's always added pressure on Sam Billings to cement his place in England's first XI. He doesn't get a chance often and when he does it's usually because someone else is injured.

All three Sri Lanka bowlers have got something out of it. They're making it really difficult for the England batsmen.

  13. Eng 31-3published at 6.0 overs

    Roy 13*, Billings 1*

That's a solid over from Isuru Udana to end the power play. Sam Billings is the new man and he gets off the mark with his fourth ball, dabbing the ball for a single.

Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga into the attack.

Your eyes light up when you see that, but you've got to find the gap.

He can't believe that. He middled it but straight to the fielder.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.2 overs

    Morgan c Hasaranga b Udana 11 (Eng 30-3)

Short and wide from Isuru Udana and Eoin Morgan's eyes light up. But instead of the boundary he finds the fielder at point with a cut shot and Wanindu Hasaranga takes a sharp catch. That was asking to whacked for four, but Morgan just didn't quite time it right.

    Roy 12*, Morgan 11*

Niroshan Dickwella is interested in a review from a Dushmantha Chameera delivery which brushes the pad, but he's given short shrift. Eoin Morgan pummels Chameera through the covers for four off the penultimate ball of the over.
