    Sussex 18-0 (2 overs) - target 178

A hard sweep from Luke Wright brings a boundary second ball.

Then a slap down the ground should have been saved by Harry Brook at long-on but he doesn't gather cleanly and it's four more.

Oh then one goes straight under the wicketkeeper's legs for four byes!

    Great over for Sussex.

Luke Wright swings and misses outside off.

    Yorkshire 177-7 v Sussex

Not too often you'd get this generous a target at Chester-le-Street.

But Yorkshire, home side for the night, have changed things a little from the normal, pulling some of the boundaries well in from their usual marks.

That will surely only suit Sussex who are used to playing at the beautiful chocolate box that is Hove.

  6. Innings break at the Riversidepublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 24 August 2021

    Yorkshire 177-7 v Sussex

Yorkshire and Sussex have only met twice before in T20 matches.

On both occasions the side batting first won the game.

Yorkshire didn't get close to Sussex's 193-5 in 2007, but in 2012, their score of 172-6 secured a 36-run victory.

Sussex will feel they've got around 15 more than they might have expected.

  8. Yorkshire set 178 targetpublished at 20 overs

    Yorkshire 177-7 (Fraine 6*, Fisher 0*)

It's a toe-crusher from Chris Jordan to end the innings but Will Fraine manages to get enough bat on it as he falls forward to squeeze it away for four runs. That's a decent total - but it will be enough?

WICKET Waite b Jordan 3published at 19.4 overs

    Yorkshire 172-7 v Sussex

Matthew Waite attempts an ambitious ramp off Chris Jordan.

The ball is full and straight, he doesn't make contact and that's the end of him.

  10. Postpublished at 19 overs

    Yorkshire 169-6 v Sussex (Fraine 0, Waite 2)

A leg-side wide by Tymal Mills is a welcome gift for Yorkshire and Matthew Waite takes two from his final ball to end the over. Mills finishes his four overs with figures of 3-39. One more to come in the innings.

It won't be his most fluent innings but it's pushed Yorkshire up towards a defendable total.

  12. 50 runs

for Tom Kohler-Cadmorepublished at 18.5 overs

    Yorkshire 166-6 v Sussex

Four runs square of the wicket takes TKC to a 47-ball half-century and he almost decapitates his partner as he smashes the next ball back down the ground for another boundary.

It is is his final scoring stroke as he top edges the next and wicketkeeper Phil Slat runs back to complete the catch and give Tymal Mills his third wicket.

Kohler-Cadmore goes for 55 and Matthew Waite comes to the middle.

  13. wicket

WICKET Thompson c Khan b Mills 16published at 18.2 overs

    Yorkshire 158-5 v Sussex

Jordan Thompson has been chancing his arm - unsurprisingly - and his luck finally runs out as he slices a ball from Tymal Mills to Rashid Khan. Will Fraine is the new batsman.

  14. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 18 overs

    Yorkshire 157-4 v Sussex (TKC 46, Thompson 16)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore fails to make anything of a free-hit following a Chris Jordan no-ball, but atones with a superb six off a slower delivery.

The next one is a bouncer and the right-hander helps it on its way over third man for another six as the total goes beyond 150.

A full toss ends the over, but it's judged below waist height and Yorkshire have to settle for a leg bye - 12 balls remaining in the innings.

  15. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 17 overs

    Yorkshire 141-4 v Sussex (TKC 34, Thompson 16)

Astonishing. Jordan Thompson hits the ball almost high enough to touch the edge of the stratosphere but Delray Rawlins doesn't seem to weant to get underneath that one and he takes two runs.

A low full toss from Tymal Mills follows and Thompson slices it over point for six. He's not hanging about.

  16. Postpublished at 16 overs

    Yorkshire 130-4 v Sussex (TKC 32, Thompson 7)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore clears his front leg before flaying George Garton straight down the ground for four.

A single gives Jordan Thompson the strike and he carves his first boundary through backward point.

The final ball of the over is skied into the air but there is confusion between Archie Lenham and David Wiese, with the latter dropping the chance as Thompson survives.

I think he should have left that for young Lenham. Weise has made a right mess of it.

  18. wicket

WICKET Ballance c Khan b Garton 55published at 15.1 overs

    Yorkshire 118-4 v Sussex

Disappointment for Yorkshire fans as Gary Ballance pulls the first ball of George Garton's over and Rashid Khan barely has to move to take a straightforward catch. Jordan Thompson is the next man in.

  19. Postpublished at 15 overs

    Yorkshire 118-3 (TKC 27, Ballance 55)

Gary Ballance pushes a single to end Rashid Khan's over.

There are five overs to come, these two are well set - what will Yorkshire think is a par score on this wicket?
