for Gary Ballancepublished at 14.3 overs

    Yorkshire 115-3 v Sussex

David Wiese denies Tom Kohler-Cadmore a boundary with a leaping save on the boundary edge.

There's not stopping that, though, as Gary Ballance smashes Rashid Khan for six to bring up a 34-ball 50.

Yorkshire really now need to put their foot down and get up to that 170-180 mark.

  3. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 14 overs

    Yorkshire 106-3 v Sussex (TKC 23, Ballance 48)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore pulls Chris Jordan for a single and the Yorkshire total reaches 100.

Jordan drops short and Gary Ballance hoists the ball over the leg-side for six - but there is nothing doing from the last ball of the over. This is Ballance's highest score of the T20 Blast this season.

  4. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Yorkshire 97-3 v Sussex (TKC 21, Ballance 41)

Archie Lenham's line is awry and Gary Ballance sweeps to fine leg for four. The youngster makes the same mistake from the next delivery, with the same outcome. That's a better over for the Vikings.

    Yorkshire 85-3 v Sussex (TKC 20, Ballance 31)

Opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore still doesn't have a four in this innings - but a six over long-off from the bowling of George Garton brings him some relief and a 50 partnership with Gary Ballance.

That is a fine over by Rashid Khan - just five runs from it.

Gary Ballance tries to smear a boundary from the final ball but is kept to a single by Delray Rawlins - who is wearing some very sharp yellow boots.

It's looked like Tom Kohler-Cadmore has struggled a little bit. It's looked hard work for the batsmen.

  8. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Yorkshire 70-3 v Sussex (TKC 11, Ballance 26)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore hit 71 off 44 balls for Northern Superchargers in his most recent innings - but he's struggling to get into it tonight.

A single off Chris Jordan finally takes him to double figures, but he is beaten for pace by the final delivery and there is no boundary action for the Vikings in that over as they reach the half-way point of their innings.

  9. Postpublished at 9 overs

    Yorkshire 66-3 (TKC 9, Ballance 24)

Rashid Khan is wide of off stump with the first ball of a new over and Gary Ballance crashes it over cover for four.

A leg-before appeal against Tom Kohler-Cadmore follows but that is very optimistic indeed and is turned down.

  10. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Yorkshire 58-3 v Sussex (TKC 8, Ballance 18)

It's Archie Lenham again. After the gift of a wide with his first delivery, Yorkshire can only manage singles from the rest. A good over.

I'm greatly encouraged by the crowd here under the circumstances. It feels like something important tonight.

    Yorkshire 52-3 v Sussex (TKC 6, Ballance 16)

The leg-spin triumvirate is complete as Will Beer takes up the attack for Sussex - but there's a slog-sweep by Gary Ballance and it sails beyond the rope at mid-wicket. A push for one takes the total to 50.

Sussex will be very happy and it will be death by spin from now on.

  14. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Yorkshire 42-3 v Sussex (Ballance 8, TKC 5)

A lot depending on Gary Ballance now and he puts Tymal Mills away through mid-wicket before an outside edge brings him another boundary.

Ballance is totally deceived by a slower delivery and ends up on his hands and knees, but that one is missing leg stump by a long way.

Only five not out off 12 so far for Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who is beaten again by the last ball of the over, and the Vikings need him to find his touch asap.

I thought he might have got outside the line but that is a huge wicket and Yorkshire now in trouble.

WICKET Brook lbw Khan 1published at 5 overs

    Yorkshire 33-3 v Sussex

What can Harry Brook make of Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan?

Not a lot as he tries to sweep the final ball of the over, fails to make contact and ends up on his back after losing his balance as the umpire gives him out leg-before.

That is a big wicket for Sussex Sharks.

  17. Postpublished at 4 overs

    Yorkshire 31-2 (TKC 3, Brook 0)

Yorkshire's man in form, Harry Brook, is the new batsman, but he is at the bowler's end to see Tymal Mills whistle the final ball of the over past the outside edge of Tom Kohler Cadmore's bat.

Rashid Khan will bowl the next over.

That's a bit of a soft one there. Nothing more than the splice of the bat and this time an easy catch for Chris Jordan.

  19. wicket

WICKET Willey c Jordan b Mills 16published at 3.5 overs

    Yorkshire 31-2 v Sussex

One over only at this stage for Archie Lenham. Here come Tymal Mills.

After a leg-side wide, he strays onto David Willey's pads and is whipped away to the short boundary for four.

Mills is mixing up 90mph deliveries with slower balls, which must make it tough for the batsmen, and Willey gets underneath an attempted pull shot and Chris Jordan's second catch of the innings is a lot easier than his first.
