Some pressure relieved last ball as Will Smeed smears one straight back past the bowler for four.

Quote MessageThis is the way Somerset go. Danny Lamb's just bowled a straight ball and it's a case of 'you miss, I hit'. That's two pretty poor shots.
Somerset 12-2 - target 185
Ooo this is nasty.
A village green hack to leg and he's cleaned up.
Wonderful start for Lancashire.

John Traynor: Somerset's best bowler was their only spinner; Lancs have five spinners.
Target 185
Richard Gleeson has not played much cricket in the past two years through injury.
But he's back here and bowling quickly. Hurries Will Smeed first ball into a top-edged pull that lands wide of midwicket.
Smeed back on strike, steps to leg and cuts wide of third man for four. Great batting.
Smeed finds the off-side ring in the remainder of the over.

Quote MessageUgly shot. Right from ball one, Tom Banton looked tentative. He didn't seem set there and was on the move. A huge wicket for Lancashire and they'll be thrilled.
Somerset 4-1 - target 185
Tom Banton flicks in the air but well short of deep square to get the chase away.
Will Smeed then squeezes a back-foot punch through the covers and they're back for three.
And then a huge early blow as Banton advances, swings, and inside-edges into his stumps!

Quote MessageThis will be a challenging chase and Somerset will have to play very well to get these.
Somerset need 185 to beat Lancashire
Tom Bailey to open up for Lancs.
Tom Banton out there for Somerset.
Somerset need 185 to beat Lancashire
Thanks Adam, evening everyone.
We saw an outrageous defence last night, it won't take as big a miracle for Lancashire to see this one through.
But this score will still take some saving you'd think on a flat pitch with small boundaries.
What is with the boundaries in these quarter-finals by the way? Even here on a small ground anyway they're pinched in.
Anyhow, the prize is the chance to join Sussex and Hampshire at finals day on Saturday, 18 September at Edgbaston.
To take you through the Somerset run-chase, it'll be Alex Winter...
Somerset v Lancashire 184-9
So, par, under par or over par that score from Lancashire?
Remember it is a quarter-final so they'll be added pressure on Somerset.

Quote MessageSomerset will be pleased. Lancashire may be 20 short. But it’s still a score and Lancashire have got some good options with the ball.
All over for this Lancashire innings as Rob Jones hustles back for two off the last ball to reach an unbeaten 38.
But they fall short of the 200+ they looked set for at the halfway stage as Somerset show some real grit and fight in the field.
Lancashire finish on 184-9 meaning Somerset will need 185 to win and reach finals day.

Quote MessageIt’s Roelof again! Surely he’s got to open the batting now.
Lancashire 180-9
Lancashire get stuck here trying to scamper quick runs and Tom Hartley can't get back in time for two.
Roelof van der Merwe's throw from long-off gets to Tom Banton and the stumps before he can.
Despite a very peculiar wide early in that over from Josh Davey that involves a quirk of the law I'm not even going to begin to attempt to simplify here, it's a tidy start.

Quote MessageI think Lancashire with their start would have thought to be 25-30 runs ahead of where they are.
Josh Davey tasked with bowling the final over of this Lancashire innings...
Not to be with the hat-trick as Tom Hartley keeps it out.
But just three runs off his last over and Marchant de Lange takes 3-41 for Somerset.
