Time for Somerset to turn to the occasional medium pace of Tom Lammonby...
Vilas 31, Jones 2
Rob Jones in at six for Lightning and he is almost run out scampering through from a mishit reverse sweep.
No direct hit at the bowler's end though sees him survive.
Dane Vilas executes a sweep shot off the last ball with more finesse and it races for four more.
A very audible dry of "ARGH!" from Van der Merwe as he finsihes another wicket-taking over with a costly delivery.

Quote MessageYou wonder why there from Wells. A nice partnership building and he’s going towards the big boundary.
Lancashire 106-4
And he strikes again!
Luke Wells the man to go this time as he is done in the flight and off the pitch a touch skipping past one that misses his inside edge.
Well out of his ground but Tom Banton almost spills the gift of a stumping, but thankfully for the home fans he gets the bails off in plenty of time.
Roelof van der Merwe back on for his third over...
Vilas 25, Wells 13
A bit of all-sorts in that over from Jack Brooks with a wide and a no ball amongst them.
Lancashire skip past 100 before the halfway stage.
200+ will most definitely be their desired target.
Jack Brooks returns for his third over...

Quote MessageIt’s an inexperienced bowling attack and they’re finding it tough.
Vilas 22, Wells 11
17 come off that Ben Green over in the end.
Not been a good night for him so far as Lancashire keep on keeping on above 10-an-over.
Lancashire 92-3
It's all happening in this Ben Green over.
Follows up being hit for six with a wide and then another full toss that Dane Vilas smashes towards that square leg rope again but he's caught this time.
Stands his ground as the umpires consult and after a look from the third umpire it's deemed above waist height and he can continues.
And more handsome strokeplay from the tall left-handed Luke Wells.
Drives Ben Green with aplomb through extra cover for a second boundary.
But step forward Dane Vilas again to upstage him with another six over deep square leg.

Quote MessageYou’d think you will need the thick end of 200 to be competitive here tonight.
Vilas 14, Wells 5
Luke Wells the new man at the crease in this slightly depleted Lancashire middle order.
Big job on his hands now to try and steer it through these middle overs.
Gets going nicely though with a fine glance for four second ball.
Lancashire 75-3
And he does the trick again for Somerset!
This will go down though as an unconventional way of taking a wicket.
Josh Bohannon tries to come down the pitch and hit over the top, but only manages to hit it down into the pitch and behind him.
Tom Banton scoops it up in his right glove and whips off the bails with Bohannon out of his ground.
Another danger man departs.
Double wicket man Roelof van der Merwe back on for his second over and from the hosts' perspective, hopefully another breakthrough...

Quote MessageToo straight and if you bowl that at Taunton you go the distance.

Ed O'Toole: I fear Lancashire will really miss Parkinson, Buttler and Mahmood tonight. Though write off the understudies at your peril. Hartley is class.
Bohannon 35, Vilas 11
Two more boundaries come off that over.
One for Vilas another for Josh Bohannon both into the legside as Marchant de Lange overpitches.
First six of the night for Dane Vilas as he flips one off his legs and it just about has enough on it to clear the man at deep square leg and the rope.
Lancashire still ticking over nicely.

Quote MessageThat’s about par for a powerplay at Taunton.
