Kate Cross was also brilliant today.

We all know how crucial middle-over wickets, and regular breakthroughs, can be in ODI cricket and Cross has done that consistently this summer.

She finished with 3-43 from her eight overs.

A special mention was also given to Charlie Dean at the post-match presentation.

She went for 16 from her first two overs, with New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine taking a fancy to the off-spinner, who was playing for England for just the second time.

The 20-year-old fought back well after the rain delay, taking 4-20 from six overs and ultimately playing a crucial part in getting England over the line.

Player of the match Danni Wyatt: "What a win! I'm really pleased with the win. We showed a lot of fight with the bat, and Charlie Dean was exceptional with the ball there. I was really happy for her.

"I had about 35 overs to bat, so I just wanted to get my head down, take low risks and it paid off today.

"I went and gave Lauren Winfield-Hill a hug after the run out, and said 'I'm really sorry'."

England captain Heather Knight: "It was nerves of steel, wasn't it? We were well below par with the bat - it was a tired batting performance with the bat and there were some soft dismissals. We showed character with the bat, though - Danni Wyatt and Tash Farrant played a brilliant hand to get us up to a total that was defendable, and again there was fight with the ball. It looked like they were on top, and the rain delay helped us.

"For Charlie Dean to bowl like that was brilliant, and my bowling plans changed about 20 times because she kept taking wickets. We need to be better but it was great to show that fight and get the win.

"I was really chuffed for Danni Wyatt. We do have good depth, and it allows you to get wins that you shouldn't really get, like today. We stole the win really. I just asked the girls to fight after the rain delay and they did that."

It's a difficult selection dilemma for England in terms of what they do with Danni Wyatt and Katherine Brunt. But England are figuring out their team in terms of who and how they play against certain opposition and in different conditions. The way Wyatt played today, it's going to be hard to justify leaving her out.

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine: "We're extremely disappointed. We thought we did an excellent job to again bowl England out for a sub-par total. To be in the position we were in, rain break or not, we back ourselves to win those sorts of games, so we've got to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and go again on Tuesday.

"It was never a run-rate pressure that was going to get us, it was always going to be wicket pressure that got us, and that unfortunately seems to be a thing for us, losing wickets in clumps. You can't do that against any side but particularly a strong England team.

"Their last pair batted well, but we've got to go back to the drawing board and work out how we're going to get lower-order batters out. We probably tried too hard if anything.

"Winning is a habit, and we haven't done that consistently for a while. We've got to find a way to do it."

It's going to be really hard for New Zealand to come back from this. England are enjoying the fight, they're enjoying the battle and they're making winning a habit. But unfortunately for New Zealand, they're finding it the exact opposite.

England captain Heather Knight and head coach Lisa Keightley will be happy to see England get over the line in at tight game, but they were will have real concerns about their batting so far in this series.

Their top six is pretty settled, and in theory a big strength ahead of March's World Cup, but collapses have happened in both games in this series so far.

England can't afford to lose Heather Knight, Nat Sciver and Amy Jones within 22 balls too often during a World Cup.

The partnership between Danni Wyatt and Tash Farrant for the 10th wicket was an England record of 51.

In a 13-run win, you can't really argue that the partnership has got England over the line.

It was another great game of cricket. England just do not know when they're beaten. The fact that they can keep getting over the line will give them so much confidence, not just in this series but with the Ashes and the World Cup ahead of them.

And they have found a little gem in Charlie Dean, that's for sure. Different people have stepped up at different times, that partnership with Tash Farrant and Danni Wyatt at the end was absolutely crucial.

A lot of talk will no doubt be about the revised New Zealand target after the hour-long rain delay.

Before the rain came they needed 87 more off 26 overs - a run-rate of 3.35. The revised target left them needing 72 off 18 overs - a run-rate of exactly four runs an over. Harsh? Many people seem to think so.

England took 6-58 after the rain resumption, while New Zealand will be disappointed with the way they faltered. It was a bit limp from them after the resumption.

Would you believe it, the softest of dismissals to finish this game. England will feel like they've got a way with one. They weren't at their best today but they've found a way to win and that's what good teams do.
