The Test Match Special team have decided to give you a little treat during this rain delay. It looks like the delay is going to be fairly lengthy, so they are playing you this week's Stumped podcast, which is produced by BBC World Service.

This week they are talking about the return of the IPL, speaking to Australia's Nathan Ellis and discussing the ongoing situation with Afghanistan women after the Taliban gained control of the country.

You can listen using the play icon at the top of the page, and you can download that episode and previous episodes too.

We think there could be an hour of spare time before we start to lose overs. However the other thing we have to bear in mind is that there are no floodlights at New Road so light could play a part.

The groundstaff are bringing on even more covers. It will be a substantial delay, but probably not a terminal one.

It's not looking particularly promising at the ground, though. I don't think we'll be getting a restart any time soon, judging from what those in the know are saying.

Amy Satterthwaite held New Zealand's innings together in the first ODI so England will be delighted with her departure.

Wickets falling in clusters has been a recurring theme in this series so far, as two wickets in consecutive overs pegged New Zealand back.

Kate Cross made the breakthrough for England, taking the big wicket of Suzie Bates - with a little bit of help from Danni Wyatt.

So as things stand, if the rain persists and that's it for the day, New Zealand will win.

New Zealand just need to be careful here that they don't lose a wicket while there is a possibility of going off for rain.

  15. NZ 111-4published at 24 overs

What's happened here?! Sophie Devine plonks the ball back at Sophie Ecclestone pretty innocuously, she fields and launches the ball straight back at Devine so firmly that she has to use her bat to fend it away.

It's given a dot ball as the batters choose not to run but Devine does not look impressed with Ecclestone's conduct there.

The umpires come together for a chat. Are we going off for rain?

It is looking a bit grey out there, and there is some fine drizzle.

Adding insult to injury, Halliday dances down the track and nails Dean's final ball for a straight four.

Oh, Amy Jones! She doesn't drop many, but that's a genuine nick from Brooke Halliday, chasing a very wide delivery from Charlie Dean and it doesn't stick in the gloves.

    How costly?

Brooke Halliday has had a couple of good seasons for Northern Districts, and apart from Amy Satterthwaite she is the only other left-hander on the New Zealand domestic circuit.
