That's probably the easiest lbw decision the umpire has ever had to make!

  2. wicket

    Kasperek lbw b Dean 10 (NZ 161-9)

The pressure tells! Charlie Dean has four.

Leigh Kasperek was looking to sweep away, but misses, and the balls hits her plumb in front. It is crashing into the middle of leg stump.

    England are one wicket away.

This is brilliant from Charlie Dean, she's bowling to her field perfectly and making that run rate climb.

  4. NZ 161-8published at 37.3 overs

    Need 22 from 27 balls

Three dot balls to start from Charlie Dean. The pressure ramps up.

That rain has really favoured England, it's slowed the outfield down considerably.

  6. NZ 161-8published at 37 overs

    Need 22 from 30 balls

Decent over for New Zealand. Leigh Kasperek twice picks up a couple - firstly through the covers, before working it behind square.

A leg-side wide and single follow.

This is getting tense. That is Sophie Ecclestone done of the day too - she finishes with 1-30 from her nine overs.

I'd have liked Lea Tahuhu to have come in one place earlier. If she could've got a quickfire 20 or 25 then, it would have taken a big chunk out of what was needed and really taken the pressure off the others.

  8. NZ 154-8published at 36 overs

    Need 28 from 36 balls

Lea Tahuhu gets off the mark straight away with a lovely drive through the covers for a couple, before she and Leigh Kasperek exchange singles to end the over.

This is looking bleak for New Zealand now.

That just turned away slightly from the left hander. Big celebrations for England and their new spin sensation, Charlie Dean.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.3 overs

Halliday st Jones b Dean 39 (NZ 151-8)

    The game?

Good from Charlie Dean. Really good. Brooke Halliday is looking to be aggressive, or at least put the England newbie off her length, but a little bit of spin beats the left hander and Amy Jones whips off the bails behind the stumps.

It leaves New Zealand need 32 from 39 balls, with just two wickets in hand.

There are no floodlights at New Road, so light is always a talking point. I don't think it's got significantly darker in the past few minutes, although I do wonder if that nasty blow that Brooke Halliday took from Kate Cross influenced the umpires to bring the light meter out. As Alex Hartley pointed out, it is dark, but you can still see. An astonishing statement.

  13. NZ 150-7published at 35 overs

    Need 33 from 42 overs

    Shot!

Brooke Halliday takes down the pitch and drives over the covers for another boundary. She's up to 29, and she's playing a really good hand here.

    The required run-rate is 4.71.

Well it is dark, but you can still see.

I wonder if Sophie Ecclestone is coming on because of the bad light. It is getting dark.

  17. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

Sophie Ecclestone is coming back on. Heather Knight wants to either wrap this up with some quick wickets, or keep it incredibly tight and push that required run-rate up and up.

Everything about Charlie Dean's body language suggests she feels much more like an England cricketer now.

  19. NZ 145-7published at 34 overs

    Need 38 from 48 balls

A full delivery from Charlie Dean is jammed out by Leigh Kasperek and they steal a quick single to Heather Knight at mid-wicket. The England skipper throws at the non-striker's end, and Dean has to dive to try and stop the ball. There is only one word for her kit at his point: filthy.

Just three singles from the over.

Brooke Halliday is playing a crucial innings here. The strike rate isn't brilliant but she has the potential to get New Zealand over the line.
