    Some rain is falling...

  2. NZ 64-2published at 14 overs

Amy Satterthwaite joins Lauren Down in the middle.

Sophie Ecclestone's first over proves to be a success.

Her brother is also playing a game of cricket today, in the National Village Cup Final at Lord's. He's the first Ecclestone to play at Lord's, which is staggering in itself.

It is brilliant stuff from Sophie Ecclestone, and it is well held from Charlie Dean, who will still be nervous.

England are back in the game.

    Green c Dean b Ecclestone 9 (NZ 63-2)

    The bowling change works!

It's a strange shot from Maddy Green, going for a big swipe at Ecclestone in her first over. The ball goes high but not far, landing safely in Charlie Dean's hands at mid on.

  5. Dramatic IPL restartpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

The IPL is back with a bang after more than four months away.

Chennai Super Kings are 7-3 against Mumbai Indians in Dubai, with all three wickets falling to New Zealanders - two for Trent Boult and one to Adam Milne. England's Moeen Ali was out for a duck.

To make matters worse for CSK, Ambati Rayudu has retied hurt after being struck on he elbow by Milne.

You can follow the latest score here.

  6. NZ 62-1published at 13 overs

    Target 198

Lauren Down slices the ball past point for four - it is slightly uppish and there are gasps of hope for England, but it evades Tammy Beaumont's dive.

Another four follows but with less credit to Down, as a good delivery from Kate Cross trickles down to third man off the edge.

I think I just saw Heather Knight signal to Sophie Ecclestone to bowl the next over, and I think that's right. New Zealand are already a quarter of the way there.

  8. NZ 53-1published at 12 overs

    Target 198

New Zealand bring up their fifty thanks to another emphatic cover drive for four from Maddy Green, who is timing the ball nicely.

There's pretty much a boundary an over at the moment which England will certainly want to rectify. Time for some Sophie Ecclestone?

Would you expect Charlie Dean to bowl her full 10 overs?

Yes, if it goes the full 50 overs. But I think Heather Knight needs to bowl, too. I think she's a great bowler in ODIs, and often a partnership-breaker.

  10. NZ 49-1published at 11 overs

Maddy Green helps herself to four of her own as Cross offers her a bit of width outside the off stump that she gratefully puts away.

  11. NZ 44-1published at 10 overs

    Target 198

Lauren Down eases the pressure of the wicket by driving elegantly past cover for her first boundary.

New Zealand reach the end of the powerplay for the loss of just one wicket.

  12. NZ 40-1published at 9 overs

    Target 198

What a day Danni Wyatt is having. Dropped from the ODI side against India earlier in the summer, she comes back into the team here and makes an unbeaten 63 and has now taken a stunning catch to get rid of Suzie Bates.

And all on her 200th international appearance. Not bad.

It is a fantastic catch from Danni Wyatt.

If England are going to win this then getting rid of Suzie Bates is going to play an important part in that.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

    Bates c Wyatt b Cross 28 (NZ 40-1)

    Huge wicket!

Bates was playing in a manner that was looking close to her very best, and the change of bowling works for England as Kate Cross makes an impact immediately.

Slashed towards cover, and Danni Wyatt takes a sharp catch very low to the ground.

The umpire's soft signal is out, which can quite often be key.

Suzie Bates does look disappointed, as if she knows it is out.

  17. Umpire reviewpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

Have England got Suzie Bates out? The soft signal on the field is out, England are claiming it. Has it carried?

It looks very tight. The soft signal could be crucial here.

  18. NZ 40-0published at 8.1 overs

More impressive from Suzie Bates, who plays a flamingo-like shot on one leg to whip through the leg side for four.

There was some proper flair in that, as if to say 'Don't bowl there.'

    Emily Windsor
Southern Vipers player on BBC Test Match Special

Danni Wyatt's 63 not out will have created a real dilemma for England, and how they look at the make-up of their side ahead of the World Cup in March.

She came in for Katherine Brunt today, but she isn't a direct replacement for her.

  20. NZ 36-0published at 8 overs

This looks like a very different New Zealand opening pair from the first ODI. They've played with much more urgency, nothing flashy but looking ready to score and push the singles.

If they can get through the powerplay unscathed, they'll be delighted.
