Well that was a well-timed entry....

A nothing shot from Jason Holder as he thinks about leaving one outside off stump from Ben Stokes, but as he withdraws his bat at the last moment it takes the edge and Ben Foakes gobbles up the catch.

Holder caught in two minds there and trudges off. A pumped-up Stokes punches the air in celebration. Big wicket for England.

A montage of Jason Holder playing outside stump shows just how good the all-rounder's judgment of when to defend, and when to leave, is.

Chris Woakes is a lovely bowler in English conditions but hasn't mastered control of the new ball. I think if you want to make a change to England's bowling line-up then you could have brought one of either Stuart Broad or James Anderson to the Caribbean. Jason Holder has been the best bowler on either side and he puts it in the same areas and gives nothing away.

  7. WI 205-4published at 70.0 overs

A beautiful leg-side take from Ben Foakes stood up to the stumps to Chris Woakes' third ball.

Nkrumah Bonner had shuffled across and attempted to get glance it off his hips so Foakes has done particularly well to grab that.

Wicketkeeping really is an art isn't it?

Piemontemio: Day one started with four for 48, day two with four for 43. If England can do similar today, they could have a slender first innings lead.

  9. WI 203-4published at 69.0 overs

Bit of a blow to Chris Woakes' thoughts about his own pace that Ben Foakes is stood up, I'd say.

Foakes is back in an orthodox position for Ben Stokes and his fourth ball shows the variable bounce creeping into this pitch as it barely gets off the ground and dribbles through to the England wicketkeeper.

Jason Holder nudges Stokes' final delivery for a single as West Indies get their first runs of the day.

  11. WI 202-4published at 68.0 overs

"He certainly didn't bowl well," Curtly Ambrose observes on commentary regarding Chris Woakes' performance with the ball yesterday.

With Ben Foakes stood up the Warwickshire all-rounder starts much more disciplined than he did yesterday against West Indies' openers and clocks up an early maiden.

England will be looking to Chris Woakes to set the tone in the same way James Anderson does. England's bowlers didn't quite get it right yesterday, especially with the new ball and they will need to improve on that today.

  13. WI 202-4published at 67.0 overs

    Holder 43, Bonner 34

England start with spin in the form of left-armer Jack Leach, who had one ball remaining in his over before rain took us off yesterday.

Leach bowled nine maidens on the bounce at one point yesterday. He delivers a dot ball first up.

Chris Woakes has the ball in hand now.

England's bowlers just need to keep it simple today. Don't try to bowl magic balls, stick to the principles of good bowling and keep it tight. That then gives you a platform to build from.

A similar day to yesterday weather wise by the looks of things, so we might face a bit of disruption with showers occasionally blowing across the ground.

Things look a bit iffy for play on Friday so Joe Root may well have half an eye on the forecast today.

Much of the focus yesterday was on two bowlers not involved in this Test match, rather those, pictured above, who are actually playing in it.

It did, at least, provided a talking point to divert the attention from an attritional day that was very much one for Test cricket purists.

However, if we are still all debating the merits of leaving out James Anderson and Stuart Broad (1,177 Test wickets) at the close of play this evening it might well become the salient theme rest of the series.

Welcome to day three of the first Test from Antigua.
