  1. GOODBYEpublished at 21:57 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

    Graft. Hard yakka.

Whatever you want to call it, that was a long day for England in the field and they will need to rest their weary limbs and attempt to get back into this Test match tomorrow.

"Uninspiring England toiled in the face of Nkrumah Bonner's determined century," is the verdict of my colleague Matthew Henry.

You can read his report from day three here...

    The scorecard is here.

And the Test Match Special podcast looking back on day three will be available later here.

That's just about your lot for now. We'll have our live text commentary with you at 13:45 (GMT) on Friday with all the key moments from day four.

    Bye for now.

  2. Wood injury to be assessedpublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

Paul Collingwood gave little away on Mark Wood's fitness, and added: "Of course we miss our 90mph+ bowler and what he gives with reverse swing but injuries happen in sport.

"We will have to assess his injured elbow overnight and see how he is tomorrow."

The pressure of that third innings makes it awkward. We know England's batsmen are lacking confidence - it'll be really interesting to see if they can stand up tomorrow. If they can get into a position with a lead by lunchtime on the last day, then who knows? But they've got to bat tomorrow and beyond.

  4. 'We stuck at it on a docile pitch'published at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

England interim coach Paul Collingwood, speaking to BT Sport, said: "The way the players that they stuck at the task, their attitude in the field on a placid docile pitch was exceptional. We have to be pretty pleased. Sometimes people expect you to bowl them out quickly but it was a pretty unresponsive pitch.

"It was one of the best ground fielding performances we've had, but I'll be very concerned if we continue to play on pitches like this. Ben Foakes has only taken five balls from Leach's 40-odd overs.

We built pressure fantastically well, we bowled reverse swing well, but without pace its difficult. We are still in the game, their fitness levels were absolutely exceptional."

Alex Thomas: I love Test cricket, it is the ultimate format of the game. It has provided the most memorable moments in sport, not just cricket. But playing on a pitch like this is turgid, slow and frustrating. It certainly won’t attract the new fans the game needs.

England supporters will have their fingers crossed hoping their batters can do what they should be able to do. Look at the way that Nkrumah Bonner and the lower order played - they had no difficulty in surviving.

  7. Postpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

England interim coach Paul Collingwood has been put up to speak to the media, possibly wisely given how tired England's players are. We'll have his thoughts shortly.

Very much West Indies' day. It hasn't been a pretty watch, but they've done what they had to do in these very difficult scoring conditions. Easy to defend, but difficult to score at any pace unless you bowl poorly. West Indies have the lead in the bank, they'll do whatever they can to extend it tomorrow.

  9. 'We want a 100 lead'published at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

Nkrumah Bonner, speaking to BT Sport, after his second Test match hundred said: "It means a lot for me. Looking back at my stats before this series I had not scored major runs in the Caribbean, so am very happy I stepped forward.

"It's a good venue, a good pitch to bat on. Tomorrow we want to bat an hour, get 100 lead to put pressure on the English batsman."

On trusting the West Indies tail: "Before this campaign we did a lot of work with them. Kemar Roach and Veerasammy Permaul can bat. I tried to keep the strike mostly but sometimes they had to take it."

  10. Close of playpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

Dan Lawrence, who mixes it up by going round the wicket, unable to winkle out the last wicket as Veerasammy Permaul sees him out.

A flicker of interest when Permaul attempts to cut a wide one from the England part-time spinner's last ball but there's no bat on it.

They will have to try again tomorrow morning with a potentially frustrating little period to nip in the bud before they can bat again.

A long and tough day for England in the field.

  11. WI 373-9published at 156.3 overs

Dan Lawrence's windmill action is whirring and Veerasammy Permaul drives on down the ground, but turns down the run as to not expose Jayden Seales.

    Three balls left.

  12. WI 373-9published at 156.0 overs

Ben Stokes finishes round the wicket to Jayden Seales, but the West Indies batter is solid and organised in defence.

Stokes gets a few pats on the back for his efforts with the ball today. The injury to Mark Wood has seen him bowl a lot more overs than he initially expected.

Dan Lawrence rewarded for his wicket with the final over of the day.

West Indies have crawled, they've scrapped, and they've got their way into a solid first innings lead.

  14. WI 373-9published at 155.1 overs

Ben Stokes smells a tail end wicket and despite his foot complaints of a little while ago is back into the attack.

Joe Root dives at slip to his first ball and almost pulls of stunning catch, which gets a hearty clap from his vice-captain.

Jayden Seales the new batter, by the way.

    Bonner c †Foakes b Lawrence 123 (WI 372-9)

DAN! UltraEdge shows he got a feather on it.

The part-timer strikes with his penultimate delivery gets rid of Nkrumah Bonner and receives the high fives from his team-mates.

Bonner milks the applause and salutes the crowd at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium as he walks off with 123 off 355 balls.

  16. Reviewpublished at 21:21 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

Dan Lawrence gets one to turn and there's a hint of noise as Nkrumah Bonner tries to work it to leg and Ben Foakes takes the catch.

Given not out but Lawrence convinces Joe Root to give it a go.

    Was there some bat involved?

  17. WI 372-8published at 154.4 overs

    Dan! Dan! Dan!

Joe Root gives Dan Lawrence the call to bowl some right-arm filth as day three peters to a close.

He's all arms and legs, levers and pistons, going in different directions.

He gets a nod from Nkrumah Bonner from his fourth ball after he draws a play and miss from the West Indies batter.

Piemontemio: Anyone remember the 1st Test of this series in 2009? Scores were: England batted 1st, 318 all out. Windies 392 in reply. Notice any similarities? England were bowled out for 51 second innings. I have a bad feeling about this...

  19. WI 371-8published at 153.2 overs

    Craig Overton into the attack.

Slightly worryingly, Ben Stokes is clutching his foot and saying he needs to go off the field. He's grimacing a little.

He might just be grumpy and fed up more than anything.

This isn't good Test cricket for the neutral - 168 runs in the day after 85 overs. We need better pitches for the rest of the series.
