Madness declaring. Nothing to gain & lots to lose. No chance of taking 10 wickets on these flatbed pitches so why bother. Leave West Indies out & let their bowlers run themselves into the ground. Leach bowled 68 overs 1st innings. Gave the lad a rest. Arm will be so tired he won't even have energy to clean the glasses!

It's worth pointing out that while there are a minimum of 65 overs available we may not get them all. The rain delays mean we'll be battling against the light later too.

    An excellent spot from Aggers.

We have confirmation England have declared on 185-6.

For what it is worth West Indies need 282 in 65 overs.

The roller is out, so that's a sure sign that the declaration has been made.

Matt Parkinson, Craig Overton and Jofra Archer are out in the middle bowling during the lunch break. Archer greeted some old friends in the ground staff who have been taking the covers off. When will we next see him in an England shirt?

On such a flat wicket do Lawrence and Root with their idiosyncratic deliveries have more chance of taking wickets than Leach?

If England declare now during the early lunch, they won't lose two overs for the change of innings

I think that's unlikely, Kal, but I'll do my best.

I don't remember life before this Test.

I brought you six wickets, 145 runs and some rain delays during my stint.

Over to Matt Henry to do better.

That pesky rain is back. So that will be lunch and, we strongly assume, an England declaration.

West Indies will need 282 runs to win in two sessions (if England do declare!)

Tony: I don't see the point of England declaring. I'm sure the only reason they've lost so many wickets is because of aggressive run chasing. If the Windies play on this dead pitch like they have every other day, no way will they lose ten wickets in half a day

It's a strange vibe out there. Woakes and Foakes are happy to work the singles. And West Indies are happy in allowing them to do so.

After all the speculating, perhaps it was England's plan to take it to lunch regardless.

Before the day had even started we knew the 'why haven't England declared yet' questions would be in full force at some point.

I was convinced they were about to after the previous over. Especially with Lawrence refusing singles. But they will go to lunch now.

I saw Chris Woakes this morning out with Mahmood, Stokes and Fisher getting their morning smoothie. I can report Woakes had a green one. England will be hoping it's given him some strength to clear the boundary.

Dan Lawrence shuffles across his crease and does attempt to go big. But in comical fashion, he flaps at the shot and is hopping on one foot as he connects. The ball heads straight to Alzarri Joseph at long-on.

    No signs of a declaration.

Dan Lawrence refuses two singles. He wants to go big. A declaration will come at the end of this over.

Paul Collingwood looks at his watch. Root shakes his head. As they chat, a certain Mr Jofra Archer makes a brief appearance by walking through the middle of the two.

No signal from the England captain. We continue.
