Looking at that wicket again there was a fair bit of bounce for Jack Leach. There's something there for him.

Chris Woakes goes up for an lbw appeal after hitting new batter Shamarh Brooks' pad. That one was optimistic.

The Barmy Army down at fine leg are singing Jack Leach's song, led by the trumpeter. They know that most hopes of an England victory lie with him.

    Campbell c Lees b Leach 10 (WI 14-0)

I was just about to say the review looked futile but there's a little wiggle on Ultra-edge. The ball has flicked the glove on the way through onto pad. Alex Lees then took the easiest of catches.

    England have an opening.

    There's a spike!

  5. England reviewpublished at 6 overs

England are going for a review in Jack Leach's first over. I think they're going for the catch around the bat. Has John Campbell got an inside edge?

It does feel that Leach is England's best chance of victory.

    And right on cue...

    Here's England bespectacled spinner.

  8. WI 14-0published at 5 overs

The quicks are getting very little from this ball. It will not be long until we see Jack Leach.

  9. WI 9-0published at 4 overs

    Minimum 61 overs remaining

I thought the exact same earlier! 282 is one of those numbers engrained in a cricket lover's brain. We'll have to go some to get the drama of that finale today.

Target of 282 rings a bell...if this Test delivers Edgbaston 2005 excitement it will have been worth it!

  11. WI 5-0published at 5 overs

England need everything to go to hand.

Joe Root only has two slips in - himself at first and Crawley at a wide third - but you can't really blame him. Hardly anything has gone to the slips in this Test.

  12. WI 5-0published at 2.3 overs

Edged just wide of slip! John Campbell couldn't resist a drive to a Chris Woakes full ball. Zak Crawley can't get there.

There's not a lot there for Fisher - a hint of swung but little more. It has been the same for days.

Jim McGrath: Can't help thinking the people complaining about England's declaration have failed to spot that England scored 145 in 25 overs today - apparently it's not *too* hard to score on this pitch, and I reckon just over 4 an over is a decent carrot to dangle.

The wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite, West Indies marathon man from the first innings, is obviously crucial if England are to have any chance.

He gets himself off the mark with a single.

The England fans are making plenty of noise in the stands with Jerusalem followed by a rendition of The Great Escape theme.

The players are out on the field. They have caught me by surprise.

Here we go then... England have a short leg in.

And the first ball from Chris Woakes almost goes to him!

I've watched this pitch for five days. I think we do know but I take your point.

RedMist: Declaration too late but welcome all the same. Far far stranger things have happened on a cricket pitch, you just never know.

There seem to be two distinct camps today, one saying that Joe Root has taken far too long to declare and the other saying he shouldn't have done so at all.
