Sophie Ecclestone is England's biggest weapon today and her match-up with Shafali Verma could be key today.

Sounds like the Bharat army have filled the ground at Southampton even though it looks like a murky morning in Hamilton or Wellington. Gutted I couldn't get any tickets in the ballot but thanks for the live commentary TMS.

This could have been a perilous half hour for India. The ball is swinging, but neither Boult nor Southee have got many in the right place. This is a stroke of fortune, Rohit outside-edging Southee between the slips.
Bar that, it's been straightforward.
Meanwhile, the players are making their way out in Bristol...

Gill was so in control, he's a very elegant player who never over-hits the ball or is out of position.
It's a feature of the India batting that both Rohit and Gill are using their feet to this new-ball pair. 'Getting close to the ball' I think they call it.

It's a bit grey but, crucially, dry in Bristol. Shafali Verma has been out having a hit on the outfield. She was gutted to hole out on 96 in the first innings, going for the boundary that would have taken her to a maiden century on Test debut. She looked as fluent as ever yesterday, and you wouldn't bet against her going to three figures today...

England might have to try and win in the first two sessions today because once the rain comes later, that might be it judging by the forecast.

So, doing two things at once. I mentioned yesterday that I once went to two weddings on the same day. Ceremony for one, hop in the car, evening do for the other. There have been a few times when I've played two cricket matches on the same day, too.
You can probably do better. Like the classic sitcom trope of trying to be in two places at once.

Southee won't mind being driven, he'll quite happy with that as he tries to find that edge.
Noise in Southampton as Rohit eases Southee through the covers for a couple. Gill is still to get off the mark. He's about to face up to Trent Boult.

Both teams have ignored conditions and just gone for their strongest sides.
Nice from Rohit, meeting a low full toss with a straight bat for a couple down the ground.
All a bit frantic so far.

Nerves around, everyone is a bit jittery out there. Just goes to show that these fantastic Test cricketers still get the nerves.

Chaos!
Shubman Gill wants a single that is never on. Rohit rightly sends him back, with Shubman diving for his ground at the non-striker's end.

The ultimate Test they're calling it. It will be really interesting to see how it plays. There will be $1.6 million to the winners. They'll share it if it's drawn.
Trent Boult, the left-armer, to share the new ball. Remember, our second Test of the day gets under way at 11:00 BST.
