Chris Painter: It's as if England have just come out and looked to tick off all the failings from the previous three fielding displays: Pitch it up: Check. Field cleanly: Check. Catch well: Check. Throw down the stumps: Check. Here's to more of the same!

  2. Ind 39-3published at 11 overs

Tidy over from Sciver. Still plenty of energy from England out in the field while the India batters have to show a bit of patience. They can't afford to take too many risks at this stage having lost three early wickets.

This is possibly my favourite cricket ground in the world that I have been to.

Walking on the beach, the sea is bright blue. It is the bluest sea I have ever seen. It's much better than Blackpool.

  5. Ind 37-3published at 10 overs

Top shot from Mandhana, yet another good-looking drive and this time she finds the gap. Four runs.

A wide and a clip legside for two make it seven from the Shrubsole over. Powerplay over and England can be pleased with their work so far.

Jack Rule: I said I had a feeling something special would happen tonight. It is happening people.

  7. Ind 31-3published at 9 overs

    Mandhana 16, Kaur 1

Nat Sciver into the attack and starts well, her first over costing only the two singles.

That is, in part, thanks to some more good fielding. This time on the rope as Mandhana pulls a short delivery down to long leg.

England will know that if they can break this partnership between two of India's real standout batters then they really will have cause to celebrate.

What did I just see? That was awful from Deepti Sharma.

That was scoreboard pressure from Anya Shrubsole and Katherine Brunt that created it.

That is the most appalling piece of running I have seen in this tournament.

Deepti run out (Cross) 0 - Ind 28-3

Excellent from Kate Cross, swooping from mid-off and throwing down the stumps but what was Deepti Sharma thinking?

Perhaps the pressure of failing to get off the mark for nine balls got to her because she hit it straight to Cross and just set off. She wasn't even in the picture when the throw found its target.

Just look at the difference in Anya Shrubsole's lengths today. The top graphic is her pitch map against South Africa last time out; the bottom one is today. Nothing short so far today!

Brunt is able to back it up, just two from her latest as Mandhana produces another elegant drive. Good early pressure from England.

This is where England need Katherine Brunt to back it up.

Don't go searching. Don't get greedy. Just stick to the plan.

  17. Ind 25-2published at 6 overs

Wicket maiden for Anya Shrubsole, she has been brilliant so far. Deepti Sharma is the new batter, another left-hander, and arrives with India under a bit of pressure.

That was brilliant from Sophia Dunkley. She had to dive forward to take that catch.

WICKETpublished at 01:28 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2022

    Mithali c Dunkley b Shrubsole 1 (Ind 25-2)

Two for England and two for Shrubsole! The India skipper is gone and England have held onto a catch!

Full again from Shrubsole, Mithali drove at it and the ball just carried to Sophia Dunkley in the covers. The umpires send it upstairs to check it carried but it doesn't take long to confirm.

A very good catch from Dunkley. England are up and about now.
