  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 25 July 2021

    Capsey c Davies b Dattani 59 (Invincibles 109-4)

Not that the drop costs them much! Gone next ball.

She goes for the big shot, and with only 14 balls left, it was understandable. But she just finds the fielder on the boundary who takes a simple catch.

    A spectacular innings.

  2. dropped catch

Capsey dropped on 59published at 12:03 British Summer Time 25 July 2021

I mean, this is very harsh on wicketkeeper Amara Carr. It was a thick edge from Capsey, and it whacks Carr in the chest.

    Ouch.

  3. Invincibles 109-3published at Ball 85

Freya Davies completes another set of five, and she's bowled very well again today. She has one wicket, only gone for 19 runs and she still has another five balls left.

  4. Invincibles 107-3published at Ball 83

A big slog from Capsey swirls in the air but nowhere near any fielders. Deepti Sharma does well on the boundary to save it from going for four.

The composure more than anything is what's been really impressive from Alice Capsey.

She's just paced her innings terrifically.

  6. Invincibles 103-3published at Ball 80

In amongst the Capsey madness, Deandra Dottin has bowled a no-ball and then a wide and pressure seems to be getting to the Spirit a little bit.

  7. Invincibles 99-3published at Ball 77

Oval Invincibles coach Jonathan Batty had to phone Alice Capsey's mum to ask her permission for her daughter to play in The Hundred.

I know I keep going on about how young she is but she is 16. SIXTEEN!!!!

I can't remember what I was doing at that age but I definitely wasn't hitting runs for fun at Lord's.

Capsey's been aggressive, but she's also been smart.

It's been really impressive stuff so far.

  9. Invincibles 93-3published at Ball 75

And she's done it all in front of the England captain, too. I have no doubt Heather Knight will be making a note of what she's seen today.

What total will they be looking at from here?

What an innings! 16 years old, opening the batting at Lord's and now has a half-century.

What more can you say?! Outstanding.

Georgie Heath: Imagine being 16 and playing an innings with this much conviction at Lord's. Alice Capsey is cool, calm and collected.

Four more to Capsey. Might as well just copy and paste those words into every post from now on.

As the players take their strategical timeout, here's the last wicket to fall - it seems like a while ago now, given how van Niekerk and Capsey have counter-attacked.

  15. Not outpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 25 July 2021

    Invincibles 82-3

Dane van Niekerk survives! There is the tiniest bit of contact with the bat or glove, which means it can't be given out lbw.

The Invincibles dressing room will have breathed a big collective sigh of relief then.

    Ooooh has she hit it?

  17. Umpire reviewpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 25 July 2021

It's been given out lbw on the field but van Niekerk has reviewed it.

    Looked close.

  18. Invincibles 82-3published at Ball 68

This is a great fightback from the Invincibles after those three early wickets. Dane van Niekerk smacks the ball for another straight four.

Dane van Niekerk, Invincibles captain and captain of South Africa, seems pretty happy to just support the 16-year-old at this stage - that's not a position she'll have been in many times!
