    That is worth a review.

  2. Aus 76-3published at 14.3 overs

Anrich Nortje returns to the attack. Has the game gone for South Africa, though?

Smith is struck on the pads with a slower delivery. There's a halfhearted appeal but South Africa opt not to review. Looked pretty close!

  3. Aus 75-3published at 14 overs

    Need 44 from 36 balls

Australia can sense victory here - and perhaps an opportunity to get a good start on their net-run-rate - taking seven from Shamsi's over, including a trademark Maxwell reverse sweep.

I don't know how you deal with that reverse sweep. Brilliant. It is always in your mind as a bowler or captain.

  5. Aus 72-3published at 13.1 overs

    Target 119

We saw Maxwell do this a number of times in the IPL. He spreads his feet, widening his stance, and reverse sweeps Shamsi for four.

That is a wonderful stroke. Really well played by Smith. Brilliant improvisation.

  8. Aus 68-3published at 13 overs

    Target 119

Glenn Maxwell clears the front leg and takes a huge swing at Maharaj but a mistimed drive sends the ball just short of the fielder in the deep.

Maharaj goes a tad short and Smith readjusts his body to play a chipped drive over cover for four. Quality shot.

  9. Aus 60-3published at 12 overs

All too easy for the experienced duo of Maxwell and Smith as they take five singles from the over.

Smith's heart would have been in his mouth.

  11. Aus 56-3published at 11.1 overs

    Target 119

I'm not putting this down as a missed chance! Steve Smith drills the ball back down the ground and bowler Dwayne Pretorius sticks his left hand out but his reach just isn't long enough.

  12. Aus 55-3published at 11 overs

Has Maxwell been strangled down the leg side? No, is the answer.

The batter looks to glance it down to fine leg and the ball hits the pad before nestling into the gloves of De Kock behind the sumps. South Africa, wisely, opt not to review.

  13. Aus 54-3published at 10.3 overs

Maxwell, donning a yellow cap with that sorry excuse for a top knot hiding underneath, dabs into the leg side for a single off Maharaj.

Smith takes one down to long-off and Maxwell finds the gap at short mid-wicket for another single.

As Carlos says, South Africa are allowing the Aussies to rotate the strike and take these easy runs.

South Africa need to find a way to stop Smith rotating the strike as easily as he is.

The time has come for South Africa to be more aggressive. They need to bring an extra player into the ring.

The worm shows Australia are eight runs behind South Africa. Australia are 51 for 3 after 10 overs. At the same stage South Africa were 59 for 4.

David Warner was looking pretty comfortable in the middle before he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 14.

The players are taking drinks so we'll take a look at how both openers fell for Australia.

Captain Aaron Finch fell for a duck...

  18. Aus 51-3published at 10 overs

Steve Smith plays an elegant straight drive, the ball racing through the blades of grass, and the single brings up Australia's 50.

  19. Aus 49-3published at 9.3 overs

Dwayne Pretorius nearly strikes in his first over. The seamer gets the ball really zipping off the turf as Maxwell wafts at thin air.

The worm shows Australia are seven runs behind South Africa. Australia are 47 for 3 after 9 overs. At the same stage South Africa were 54 for 4.
