Four! It's the googly form Shamsi and Steve Smith picks it, makes some space, opens the face of the bat and guides the ball down to the third-man boundary for four.
And then Smith nearly plays on and is nearly run out! The inside edge directs the ball just wide of leg stump, the throw comes in from David Miller - a direct hit would have seen Smith heading back to the dugout.
Tabraiz Shamsi is such an awkward bowler to score off. Smith and Maxwell happy to work three singles.

In comes Glenn Maxwell - a man who was in brilliant form in the IPL. This partnership is so important for the Aussies here.

You talk about never judging a bit until both teams have batted...
It looks like a tough slog for Australia. South Africa are turning the screw.
Marsh c Van der Dussen b Maharaj b 11 (Aus 38-3)
We have a game on!
Boundaries were becoming hard to come by for Australia and the pressure takes its toll on Mitchell Marsh.
It's a full ball from Maharaj and Marsh takes a huge swing but miscues it to the fielder at deep mid-wicket. It comes off the toe-end of the bat and there are some glum looking faces in the Aussie dugout.

Shamsi is like a kid in a playground. He loves his cricket. One of his celebrations is his shaking his hand and a wand appearing. Off the field he has card tricks.
More spin as Tabraiz Shamsi comes on to bowl. It's a bit of a loosener first up, full and outside off as Smith confidently drives through cover for two.
Marsh is insistent on playing the reverse sweep but twice finds the fielder at short third man.
Another decent over for South Africa. Just five from it.
Marsh hangs back in his crease, looking to launch Maharaj over the leg side, but instead tamely chips the ball back over the bowler's head.
Five from the over.
Smith and Marsh work the gaps. Three singles.
The quickies have done a job so it's time for spin as a smiling Keshav Maharaj prepares to turn his arm over.

Steve Smith is twitching around as usual. He went through the works there. He's permanently plugged into the mains electricity.
A jump, punch of the air, followed by a huge roar - Rabada loved every moment of that dismissal.
Steve Smith is the new batter and is off the mark with a pull for three.

Warner certainly played some good shots and found a bit of touch but that was a sliced drive. Well bowled, Rabada.
Warner c Klaasen b Rabada 14 (Aus 20-2)
Ah! Having hit three boundaries, David Warner's day comes to an end.
The slower ball from Rabada, an off-cutter, deceives the Australia opener who slices it to backward point and Heinrich Klaasen takes a decent grab.
Warner looks in decent nick so far as he latches onto some width offered by Kagiso Rabada and carves it through point for four.
Anrich Nortje has sweatbands on both wrists in the humid Abu Dhabi conditions.
Marsh, looking to heave the ball through the leg side, is struck just below the hip. Looks painful but Marsh is 'ard as nails and shrugs it off.
A brilliant comeback from Nortje with five consecutive dots after conceding the boundary.
Nortje continues. Mitchell Marsh is off the mark with a flick through mid-wicket for four.
