Van der Dussen c Wade b Hazlewood 2 (SA 16-2)
An absolute beauty first up from Josh Hazlewood! He comes into the attack and right away sees off the in-form Van der Dussen, who nicks through to the keeper.
David Warner is charging in from his fielding position to celebrate, face contorted, like only he can.

Maxwell readjusts that tiny ponytail at the end of his over. It's not even long enough to be worth the effort.
Five from the over and a wicket. Good start from Maxi.
Rassie van der Dussen, who hit a ton in a warm-up game the other day, is South Africa's number three.

There wasn't much guile involved. It was just a misjudgement of length. Short players do tend to go back, but he definitely should have been forward there.

It didn't do anything that really, maybe just hurried through a little bit.
After that beautiful start he is suddenly out.
Bavuma b Maxwell 12 (SA 13-1)
Bowled 'im! You could question the haircut but not this. Glenn Maxwell has cleaned Temba Bavuma up with off-spinner that doesn't spin. Bavuma plays all around it and Maxwell roars in celebration.

It is always worth looking out for the haircuts at a major tournament. There will be colours and quirky cuts!

Glenn Maxwell has got a quirky haircut. He almost looks like a sumo wrestler.
Hello Glenn Maxwell's hair. He has the sides shaven but the longer stuff on top pulled back into a very short pony tail. He's rocking it like the Big Show can.
He's also on for an early bowl.

That is a lovely stroke. My word. To play a shot like that to your third ball is pretty special.
Shot! There aren't many in the ground but those that are whoop in delight as Bavuma clobbers Starc through the covers.
And again!
Lovely from Temba Bavuma. He is leading South Africa at a world event for the first time and this is quite the start.
Temba Bavuma, little more than the height of two stumps stacked on top of each other, gets South Africa under way with a couple from the first ball.

The big focus will be that David Warner hasn't played during the IPL and he hasn't scored runs during the warm-up games.
Australia love the big stage and performing on it, so it is about them delivering now. You've got to start really well in this tournament. It is a shorter tournament and you've got to start from ball one.
You can't discredit Australia. They haven't won this yet, but there is a burning desire to.
We've had the anthems. The Sheikh Zayed Stadium is disappointingly empty but Mitchell Starc has the ball in hand and Quinton de Kock is at the crease.
Box office.
Here are the two groups for this Super 12 phase. The top two teams in each will progress to the semi-finals...
Are you, like England, India and the rest, just joining this tournament today? If so, here's a recap of the first week:
Eight teams competed in the preliminary round and the big news is that Scotland and Namibia both made it through to the main stage for the first time.
Scotland won three games from three, including an impressive victory over Bangladesh.
Namibia, the lowest ranked team in the tournament, sealed their place in the Super 12s with a shock win over Ireland on Friday.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh both also progressed with Sri Lanka's bowling attack particularly impressive.
