  1. WI 93-3published at 13 overs

Good from Kagiso Rabada with just four runs coming from his third over.

There was some excellent positive running from Kieron Pollard already though. West Indies are going to need more of that.

  2. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 26 October 2021

West Indies captain Kieron Pollard is the new batter.

Him and Chris Gayle in together = power.

Briliantly bowled by Rabada, just rolling his fingers down the side of the ball. Simmons has eaten up too many dot balls and put pressure on the other batters.

Maybe for West Indies that's not the worst news.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.2 overs

    Simmons b Rabada 16 (WI 89-3)

It is not often a wicket is a good thing for a batting side, but this may be...

Lendl Simmons actually offers us some back lift, perhaps for the first time today, but he is deceived by a really clever leg cutter from Kagiso Rabada and the ball hits the base of leg stump.

Simmons ends up with 16 off 35 balls, a strike-rate of 45.71. He's had better days out.

Temba Bavuma is going to attack. Kagiso Rabada is back on.

A six to bring up your half-century? Is there any other way?

  8. Not outpublished at 13 overs

Oh! This is unlucky for South Africa.

The technology shows the ball was crashing into the top of middle stump but Chris Gayle has just about done enough to get outside off stump so he survives.

    Close call.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone out sternum before wicket.

It was hard to see how good an lbw shout it was.

  11. South Africa reviewpublished at 13 overs

HUGE appeal for lbw against Chris Gayle.

He looks to heave away, but ends up on the floor.

My first hunch was missing leg stump.

It is time the Universe Boss.

    Chris Gayle is in.

    Buckle up.

Promoted up the order to try and find the boundary, he has gone for the aggressive shot down the ground and has not quite got hold of it.

That was a good catch because it was quite awkward for Miller.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.2 overs

    Pooran c Miller b Maharaj 12 (WI 87-2)

    Good grab!

Keshav Maharaj fires one into the pitch and Nicholas Pooran smashes a flat-bat shot down the ground but David Miller makes up some good ground and times a mini jump well to take a good catch.

Mahraj turns rounds and double fist pumps towards Pooran in celebration, but the left-hander is frustrated there. He smacks his bat in frustration as he walks off.

This is some recovery by West Indies after that game on Saturday.

  18. WI 85-1published at 12 overs

Good running. Nicholas Pooran ends the over with a sprinted two to take 11 from the over.

All 14 of Lendl Simmons' runs have come in singles by the way. There is zero intent from him. It is very much soft hands, drop and run or block cricket from him.

  19. WI 82-1published at 11.2 overs

    Oh wow.

A glorious cover drive from Nicholas Pooran brings him four more.

He's up to nine off three balls.

  20. WI 78-1published at 11.1 overs

    Shot! Modern-day batters are unreal.

Nicholas Pooran, facing just his second ball, gets down on one knee and crunches a reverse sweep to the boundary.
