  2. SL 79-2published at 10 overs

Avishka Fernando is the new batter for Sri Lanka.

He gets off the mark first ball with a single. Adam Zampa now has one wicket for eight runs from his two overs. He's pulled this back brilliantly for Australia.

    A very enjoyable innings.

There is a little bit of vulnerability for Sri Lanka now. A platform comes with pressure.

That is really clever from Australia. Steve Smith is 10 or 15 yards in from the boundary rope waiting for the top edge. If he'd been on the boundary that would have dropped short. It is a decent catch.

    Asalanka c Smith b Zampa 35 (SL 78-2)

    A much-needed breakthrough for Australia!

Asalanka sweeps and times the ball to perfection but unfortunately for him, it's timed too well and straight to Steve Smith on the square leg boundary.

An entertaining innings comes to an end, but he's put Sri Lanka in a very decent position if they can kick on from here.

Charith Asalanka has 34 from 25 balls. He did this to Glenn Maxwell's first ball, too. Standard.

  8. SL 75-1published at 9 overs

11 from that Stoinis over. That'll do nicely for Sri Lanka.

  9. SL 70-1published at 8.5 overs

Shot! Marcus Stoinis offers Perera some width and he cashes in, crunching the ball for four through extra cover.

Oh, and another! This time just backward of point as he picks the gap absolutely perfectly. Lovely.

  10. SL 65-1published at 8.1 overs

A single brings up the 50 partnership between Asalanka and Perera from just 36 balls.

    Batted.

You learn so much more about your bowling when you have DRS in operation because you have to watch the ball. I benefited a lot from it during The Hundred this summer.

  12. SL 64-1published at 8 overs

A very decent first over from Zampa costs four runs and that just gives Australia a bit more control.

Replays show that lbw shout was just - and I mean just - missing off stump. Good decision not to review from Finch.

It would be interesting to see the ball-tracking on that. It looked a better shout than it did initially.

  14. SL 61-1published at 7.2 overs

Oh, close! A big lbw shout from Adam Zampa's second ball is given not out on the field.

They don't go for the review, surprisingly. "Spinning too much?" shouts Matthew Wade from behind the stumps.

No boundary in the over but some good running from the Sri Lanka batters means they still take seven runs from it.

'Hit the gap and run' seems to be the tactic for now.

This is a nice platform for Sri Lanka and they've got some good hitters coming in down the order too.

  20. SL 53-1published at 6 overs

A single off the last ball to conclude the powerplay and Sri Lanka will be the happier of the two teams, you'd imagine.

Can they make the most of this start?
