  1. WI 29-2published at 6 overs

Two big lbw shouts against Roston Chase and the same outcome for both: not out, no review.

That is not a great powerplay from West Indies. The pitch does look as if it's keeping a little low, but they'll certainly be disappointed with that.

We have seen throughout this tournament the outfields are like billiards tables. Anything in the gap is hard to stop.

  3. WI 25-2published at 5.1 overs

Hetmyer gets his first boundary with a perfectly timed clip off his hips down to fine leg.

  4. WI 21-2published at 5 overs

Another close-looking lbw shout that is turned down and again, no review. Perhaps sliding down the leg side.

Great over from Mahedi Hasan, who has bowled two overs and taken one wicket for just seven runs.

Proving to be another difficult powerplay for West Indies.

Shimron Hetmyer is the new batter. He's currently helmet-less with his red/pink hair on display.

Great bowling from Mahedi. There is no spin so he has come around the ball. It skidded through.

The big man is out. It has not been a good tournament for the big fella.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 29 October 2021

    Gayle b Mahedi 4 (WI 18-2)

    Gayle is gone!

He goes for a big drive and completely misses a straight one - there's not much more to it than that! Mahedi goes on a running celebration, Imran Tahir-style, and the crowd is right behind him.

There have been opportunities for West Indies to score but they haven't put the ball away. The next two overs will be crucial.

  9. WI 18-1published at 4 overs

A confident start from Roston Chase, who takes five from the over, but they could certainly do with a few boundaries. Bangladesh aren't giving much away.

Here's Roston Chase, in at number three on his international T20 debut.

Mustafizur missed his length. Lewis tried to pick it up but got a top-edge.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3 overs

    Lewis c Mushfiqur b Mustafizur 6 (WI 12-1)

    Big breakthrough!

It's a poor ball and equally poor shot. Short and wide down the leg side, Lewis' eyes light up as he aims to hit it into the stands but can only edge it high in the air for a simple catch at midwicket.

Bangladesh are delighted, they've started really well here so far.

Shakib had enough time to throw it to the keeper. Das was not far away from the stumps if he lobbed it to him.

  14. WI 9-0published at 2.1 overs

Oh dear. Gayle wants a quick single this time, when the ball is straight to the fielder at point and Lewis quite rightly says no.

He is miles away and the fielder probably has time to throw to the keeper, but instead opts for the direct hit at one stump and misses.

Lewis absolutely kitchen sinked it. That is where he is strong, anything full and wide.

  16. WI 9-0published at 2 overs

Dismissive! Lewis gets some width and flays it past cover for the first boundary of the day.

    Don't bowl there ...

When he first came into the West Indies side Gayle was ranked up there with the fastest in the Caribbean for running over 20 or 30 yards.

  18. WI 5-0published at 1.4 overs

Evin Lewis comes down the pitch, wanting a quick single to mid-off. Gayle doesn't move a muscle.

    Standard.

Replays show that Evin Lewis got the faintest of inside edges on that lbw shout.

Taskin Ahmed is taking the second over.

  20. WI 4-0published at 1 over

The Bangladesh fans in the crowd are pretty excited already. It looks absolutely boiling there so I'll be impressed if they can keep their energy levels up in that heat.
