  1. SL 110-5published at 16.3 overs

Dwaine Pretorius is persisting with a line way outside off stump.

It worked in his first over but Pathum Nissanka is onto him this time as he moves across his stump and drags the ball into the onside for four.

Dasun Shanaka is a bit more industrial but his ugly swipe at another wide Pretorius ball finds the outside edge and flies away for another boundary.

  2. SL 101-5published at 16 overs

The pitch is slow and the ball is keeping very low which is making it difficult for Sri Lanka to get it away.

They finally time it right with the last ball of Anrich Nortje's over as Shanaka powers the ball through over extra cover for a welcome boundary.

    Hundred up for Sri Lanka.

Nissanka has anchored the innings. He has not accelerated but will really have to now in the last five overs.

    Much lies with Nissanka now.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Nissankapublished at 15 overs

Pathum Nissanka Dwaine Pretorius's final delivery into the offside for a single that takes him to 50 from 46 deliveries. A battling effort from the Sri Lanka opener.

    Wagon wheel
  6. SL 92-5published at 14 overs

And that is Tabraiz Shamsi done - 3-17 from his four overs. Brilliant stuff from the South African left-hander.

Hasaranga has just not quite got it. It stayed low and went to Markram. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka the impetus Hasaranga was trying to show has now gone.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.4 overs

    Hasaranga c Markram b Shamsi 4 (SL 91-5)

Plenty of intent from Wanindu Hasaranga as he takes on Tabraiz Shamsi but he only succeeds in picking out Aiden Markram at long on.

Three wickets now for Shamsi, another setback for Sri Lanka.

  9. SL 89-4published at 13 overs

That's a good over from Sri Lanka - 10 off it in the end. It is certainly enough to get the Sri Lankan fans dancing in the stands.

Keshav Maharaj is 0-34 from his four overs.

Maharaj dragged it right down and Nissanka put his hands through it. That's a big hit.

  11. 6 runs

    SL 85-4published at 12.1 overs

    That's more like it!

Pathum Nissanka steps down the track and powers the ball over long on for six.

  12. SL 79-4published at 12 overs

South Africa are picking up wickets at regular intervals, checking any momentum Sri Lanka are looking to build.

Avishka did not quite get to the pitch. He was done in the flight. Good bowling.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.4 overs

    Fernando c&b Shamsi 3 (SL 77-4)

Another easy catch for Shamsi as Fernando tosses it up straight back to the bowler.

2-12 for Shamsi now. Sri Lanka are wobbling here.

It makes me laugh when a spinner who is bowling 60mph stares at a batsman. Who are you looking at, mate?!

  16. SL 76-3published at 11.1 overs

Pathum Nissanka has his eye in so when Tabraiz Shamsi tosses it up it is unsurprisingly dispatched for four through extra cover.

The pitch is very low and very slow. The Sri Lanka bowling attack is made up for bowling in these conditions. Nissanka has to bat as long as he can. Then they can get up to the 150-160 mark.

  18. SL 72-3published at 11 overs

There's some spritely running from the Sri Lanka batters as they look to pick up the pace.

Five off the over and Nissakna now has 34 from 35 balls. Sri Lanka need him to hang around.

  19. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

This was the first wicket of the day as Anrich Nortje bowled Kusal Perera for seven.

  20. Not outpublished at 10.1 overs

    Nope, it did not.

    Nissanka survives - again.
