He's gone again!
Guptill is at it again! An identical delivery and identical shot square through the offside for four.
Ominous signs...

Too wide, too short and Guptill has walloped it through the gap to the boundary. That ball on any pitch gets hit for four.
Short and wide from Alasdair Evans and Martin Guptill gives it the treatment, cutting it perfectly between backward point and cover for four.

AM: So India need a big favour from Scotland. Unlikely as it is they have been creating goodwill with Scotland for a long time by always having a random bagpipe scene in every 80s/90s Bollywood film...
Safyaan Sharif looks to bang the ball in just short of a length but there does not seem to be much life in this pitch early on.
Daryl Mitchell shows his intent with an attempted heave into the onside, but he can only chop onto his pads for a quickly run single.
Just the one run off the over, a decent start by Sharif.

I thought the best way for Scotland to contain New Zealand in this match was to go spin-heavy. But they've chosen three seamers. Time will tell.

The last thing New Zealand want to do here is let India back into the fold after beating them on Sunday.
A two down to third man and quickly run single wrap up a decent first over from New Zealand.
It's seam again at the other end as Safyaan Sharif prepares to steam in.

He's given his keeper no chance there.
Argh, Wheal strays down leg and the ball disappears for five wides.
Wheal struggling with his line early on.
That's too full from Brad Wheal, allowing Martin Guptill to free his arms and loft the ball over extra cover for four to get New Zealand off the mark.
Daryl Mitchell, who was outstanding against India at the weekend, will open the batting for New Zealand alongside Martin Guptill.
Brad Wheal has the ball in hand for Scotland.
Here we go...
The match is being played on a fresh pitch in Dubai and the TV pundits previewing the game said it looked a decent track, which should mean a fair contest between bat and ball.

I always enjoy the associate teams bowling first because if the pitch isn't very good it gives them a chance to bowl the opposition out for a low score. And I really like watching Scotland chase.

Scotland have to be mindful now of not suffering impostor syndrome. They have to look to play as a team and this is an opportunity to make a statement at the highest level.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson: "We were going to have a bowl as well but it does look like a good surface. It's important we look to do our job first up and be positive.
"The crowds have varied throughout and for us it's to maintain the standard we showed against India.
"There are a number of guys who can play a variety of roles but we're sticking with the same team today."
Kyle Coetzer is back as Scotland captain and his first job is to win the toss and choose to bowl first.
Scotland are bottom of Group 2 after defeats to Namibia or Afghanistan, with three tough matches to come against New Zealand, India and Pakistan.
New Zealand meanwhile are third and have their fate in their own hands. Three wins from their remaining three matches will be enough to secure a semi-final place.
