One hand came off the bat! That is a remarkable shot.

Mickey Arthur is smiling in the Sri Lanka dugout. We haven't seen much of that in recent months. He'll be delighted with how his side are going here.

He'll love this shot too. Pathum Nissanka brings out the switch hit and makes really good connection over backward point and away to the boundary. It wasn't far off going all the way.

Back to the spin of Akeal Hosein after the drinks break.

Here's the one six we've seen so far...

Zero-risk cricket from Sri Lanka and they add six from the final over before drinks.

They'll be the happier of the two sides at this stage. West Indies need wickets.

There's a nice little partnership building here. Asalanka is one of the finds of the tournament. He has shown that he likes facing fast bowling and tonight he has been hitting the gaps and playing beautifully.

  8. SL 77-1published at 9 overs

West Indies are throwing themselves around in the field.

Evin Lewis slides along the boundary but can only push a drive from Charith Asalanka into the rope further along.

But Andre Russell - who is absolutely dripping in sweat, shirt clinging to him - then does really well at extra cover to parry a crunching drive from Pathum Nissanka. He's saved a couple of runs there.

Here's how Andre Russell picked up the wicket of Kusal Perera...

  10. SL 67-1published at 8 overs

Andre Russell is giving West Indies some control with the ball. He has had a very quiet tournament so far but how West Indies would love him to perform tonight and on Saturday.

There's a good noise in the ground today. Mainly being made by Sri Lanka fans at the moment it must be said.

This has been a terrific start for the Sri Lankans, and a slightly concerning one for West Indies. They have to win - and win handsomely.

  12. SL 61-1published at 7 overs

Is that clever? Is that lucky? Hard to tell. Charith Asalanka gets a thin edge past Nicholas Pooran and ball races away to the boundary. I think he meant that with no slip there.

That one is definitely clever. Pathum Nissanka goes deep in his crease and guides past short third for four more.

Sri Lanka are going nicely here. Remember West Indies must win to stand any chance of going through to the semi-finals, but they also need to drastically improve their net run-rate. They do that by winning with balls to spare, that means they need to keep the total down.

Time for a bit more spin.

Left-armer Akeal Hosein is into the attack.

  14. SL 48-1published at 6 overs

Oh! Andre Russell finishes his first over with the shorter ball and a top edge from Charith Asalanka flies over wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran and away to the boundary.

Powerplay over. Who does that belong to? Sri Lanka? Honours even? A tough one to call.

This has been a very balanced game so far. It was waiting for someone to take it by the horns.

That is a brilliant, brilliant piece of athletic fielding from Andre Russell. It came at him at some pace. Perera was looking for the ball at mid-wicket.

Wickets will always help you slow the scoring down.

Andre Russell opts for the slower ball and it must stick in the pitch slightly, either that or Kusal Perera is really early on the short, because he gets a leading edge as he looks to flick through the leg side.

It loops towards Russell and he leaps to his right to take a good catch.

    West Indies needed that.

That would have been a donation of a wicket.

  19. SL 42-0published at 5 overs

Really good over for Sri Lanka. The early boundary always helps.

Kusal Perera picks up three through mid-on before Pathum Nissanka twice picks up a couple.

The second comes via an overthrow after a throw hit the stumps at the batters end. There's a brief run out check but Kusal Perera was comfortably home.

Windies need to find a way to stop the scoring.
