I'm looking forward to seeing Hasaranga against West Indies' hitters.

    Target 190

Binura Fernando rescues a pricey over with a couple of dot balls.

That was in the slot too. If he'd got that in the middle it would have ended up in Dubai.

  5. WI 34-2published at 3.3 overs

    Four!

Not where Nicholas Pooran intended by any means, but a thick outside edge beats the fielder at short third and goes bobbling away to the boundary rope.

Not only are Sri Lanka dropping Nicholas Pooran they are giving him free hits. Cardinal sins.

  7. WI 30-2published at 32 overs

Binura oversteps, and we're gonna have a free hit.

    Wallop!

Nicholas Pooran goes long over mid-on for a big 'un.

I let him off the caught and bowled but he should have held onto that.

That is a quite a good shot but it was in the air and Binura Fernando almost had a third wicket.

  11. dropped catch

Pooran dropped on 10published at 3.1 overs

Binura Fernando continues, and almost has Nicholas Pooran caught!

It's not the best ball he'll ever bowl, speared into the pads, and it goes high and quick to Theekshana at short fine leg. He jumps, gets a hand to it, and parries it back over his head for four.

That is great work and great commitment for his team. He has saved a run.

  14. WI 19-2published at 3 overs

    Target 190

That's superb from Asalanka down in the deep, diving and flicking the ball back to stop Nicholas Pooran nabbing a boundary.

Roston Chase, in at four for West Indies, safely negotiates his first ball.

  15. dropped catch

Pooran dropped on 5published at 2.3 overs

    That'll sting!

Nicholas Pooran thrashes the ball back to Theekshana and the ball thuds into his hands before dropping to the floor. Ouch.

It was a slight change of pace, rolling his fingers over it like the off-spinner, and it was a nothing shot. You felt if West Indies were going to chase this target, they needed either Evin Lewis or Chris Gayle to come off.

I'd say being 10-2 when you're chasing 190 to try and qualify for the semi-finals is sub-optimal.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2 overs

    Lewis b Binura 8 (WI 10-2)

    Ah.

Evin Lewis gets a ball that nips back into him and his flat-footed shovel does nothing but ping the ball back onto his off stump. He hangs his head as he walks off.

  19. WI 10-1published at 1.5 overs

    Shot!

Evin Lewis drives Binura Fernando beautifully down the ground to make it back to back fours.

  20. WI 6-1published at 1.4 overs

Nicholas Pooran is in at three for West Indies, but he's able to stand and watch as Evin Lewis absolutely cracks four through suare leg. Lovely.
