It is not the classy Kane Williamson we are used to but the result is what he would have wanted.

And again!
Kane Williamson is not going to die wondering today.
He has an almighty heave and it flies away over point and third and away to the boundary.
Glenn Maxwell puts his hand to his face and laughs.
Four more.
Kane Williamson drives and a thick outside edge races past short third for four.
How costly could this dropped catch by Josh Hazlewood prove to be?
Kane Williamson has added 34 in 14 balls since.
Beautiful! Glenn Phillips gives himself some room and drives over the covers for four more. He's starting to get going now.
There was an appeal for caught behind earlier in the over and Adam Zampa and Matthew Wade liked it. Aaron Finch told them no, and wisely as Phillips' bat just flicked the pad rather than the edge.
Adam Zampa finishes with figures of 1-26 from his four overs.

That's the first bad ball Zampa has bowled.

What a shot! That was murderously smoked.
Hello, Glenn Phillips.
He's hit the most sixes in the T20 cricket in the world in 2021 and there's another for the counter.
Adam Zampa is into his final over and he is greeted with a thump straight back down the ground.

Australia have got through their four overs from their fifth and sixth bowlers, Glenn Maxwell and Mitch Marsh, now. It cost them 39 runs.
A good over from Pat Cummins allows Australia to gain some control back. Just five runs from it.

Shouldn't T20 World Cup finals be best of three? Toss to choose whether to bat or bowl in the first game. Whoever loses chooses in the second game. If you need a decider whoever has the best net run-rate in the final so far chooses. Keeps things alive and makes a more worthy winner!!

Kane Williamson is the second captain to make a half-century in a Men's T20 World Cup final. Kumar Sangakkara did the same for Sri Lanka against Pakistan at Lord's in 2009.
What is that? Glenn Maxwell bowls a filthy full toss that dips on Kane Williamson and grazes off the cue end of the Kiwi skippers bat. It dips on Matthew Wade, behind the stumps, and a bye is given.
Williamson was dropped on 21 don't forget. Those runs came off 22 balls. He has really accelerated since then.

Out of nowhere, Williamson brings up his fifty. This is a magnificent counter-attack from New Zealand. I didn't, in my mind's eye, imagine it would be Williamson who took down the fifth bowler.
He goes again! Six more!
An outrageous flick from Kane Williamson brings up his half-century.

The two or three really bad short balls the spinners have bowled, the batters haven't been able to capitalise on. It's like it's stuck in the pitch.
Shot!
Kane Williamson whacks Glenn Maxwell over mid-wicket.
He's been sensational since the drinks break.

That was a ridiculously futile appeal from Maxwell. It pitched outside leg, he might have hit it, and it was going over the top.
We know Australia don't have the best track record with reviews. Just think Headingley 2019. There is an appeal for lbw against Kane Williamson as he gets hit on the hip as he looks to pull away.
It pitched an absolute mile outside leg stump but Aaron Finch seriously considers a review but wisely opts against it.
These are the sort of shots that have allowed Kane Williamson to up his scoring rate...
