  2. Diamonds 37-2published at 7 overs

    Winfield-Hill 14, Armitage 6

Bit too short from Paige Scholfield in her first over as twice Lauren Winfield-Hill tucks into the tennis ball bounce on offer.

Second time she cuts commandingly away to the point rope for four to move into double figures.

    Winfield-Hill 8, Armitage 5

Lauren Winfield-Hill decides she's going to go on the attack against Charlotte Taylor.

She lofts one over mid-off that plugs in the surface and trickles just short of the rope.

Seven runs from the final over of the powerplay. Vipers will no doubt be the happier having lost the toss.

WICKET Heath b Bell 9published at 4.3 overs

Delight for Lauren Bell as she gets one through an attempted flick into the legside by Bess Heath.

    Rearranges her stumps pretty comprehensively.

Another crucial breakthrough for Vipers in the powerplay as Diamonds skipper Hollie Armitage comes out to join Winfield-Hill.

  8. Diamonds 14-1published at 4 overs

    Heath 9, Winfield-Hill 1

Decent start so far for the Vipers after losing the toss.

  9. Diamonds 12-1published at 3 overs

Lauren Winfield-Hill the new batter in at three for Diamonds.

Will her experience be key in this match?

  10. wicket

WICKET Dobson run out 1published at 2.5 overs

    Diamonds 12-1

Ella McCaughan makes up for her earlier drop by executing a brilliant bit of fielding with a run out at mid-off with a direct hit.

It's the same player she dropped the previous over too in Leah Dobson who is well short of her ground trying to take a quick single.

Celebrations all round from the Vipers players.

Tall right-armer Lauren Bell to continue with a second over from the Pavilion End.

  14. Diamonds 3-0published at 1 over

Mixed bag of a first over from Lauren Bell.

Charlotte Edwards Cup Finals Day (play starts 11:00)

Georgia Adams and Alice CapseyImage source, Rex Features

Georgia Adams and Alice Capsey have already experienced the high of lifting a trophy this summer, as members of the Oval Invincibles side that won the inaugural women's final in The Hundred.

But they could find themselves in opposition later today if Southern Vipers skipper Adams can steer her side to victory over Northern Diamonds in the Charlotte Edwards Cup play-off game.

Adams is one of only three batters in the competition to have passed 200 runs in this season's competition, and her side know all about the 20-over format, having reached three of the four finals in the Kia Super League, which ran from 2016 to 2019.

A win over the Diamonds and they will be through to another final - and a showdown with Capsey's South East Stars.

Southern Vipers v Northern Diamonds - play starts 12:00 BST

Southern Vipers had a tougher than might have been expected journey to the Ageas Bowl after winning their first three group games.

Defeats by Central Sparks and South East Stars followed, though, before they returned to winning ways with a seven-wicket victory over Lightning, with Tara Norris taking 3-26, and progressed as the best runners-up.

Northern Diamonds began their challenge with a 12-run defeat by North West Thunder, but recovered with three wins before losing by four wickets to Western Storm at Chester-le-Street.

It all came down to the final round of matches and although Storm beat Sunrisers, Diamonds topped the group on net run rate following an eight-wicket win over Thunder, thanks to Bess Heath's 58 not out.

    Told you so.

She may have led England to World T20, World Cup and Ashes triumphs, and celebrated domestic titles as player and coach - but she has not, as far as we know, won a competition named after her.

That could all change today. First, though, the Southern Vipers team she coaches have to get past Northern Diamonds for the right to face South East Stars.

It's a repeat of last summer's 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final when Vipers beat Diamonds by 38 runs.

Will they come out on top again? Charlotte Edwards certainly hopes so.
