This is only the second day of this Test. Remarkable.

Overton and Bairstow are now, sensibly, batting for the close.
That said, Bairstow is calling for the physio, having limped through a single a little earlier on. Cramp, maybe?
We're going to finish short on overs, but I think if you're at Headingley you'd very much feel like you've had your money's worth.
That said, if this match is held up once more for somebody walking behind the bowler's arm I may scream.
How absolutely lovely.

I went to school with Jonny, playing cricket and rugby with him over a number of years. Not only a good friend, he was the most dedicated and talented sportsman I’ve ever come across. I’m so proud to watch him performing like he is, knowing how much he’s done to get there. He's showing such maturity and hopefully another century is on the way. Go on Jonny!

Short, Bairstow swings... and it's four more through square leg!

There were not many England players out on the balcony when these two came together at 55-6. They are all out there applauding now.
Four from Jonny Bairstow brings up what has been a remarkable 200-run stand between him and Overton.
Be honest: how many of you thought this was going to happen when they were 55-6?

I can't quite believe what we've seen this afternoon.

This partnership of 196 is now England's highest seventh-wicket partnership in Test cricket.
Tim Southee bowls and promptly gets launched back over his head by Jonny Bairstow.
In fact, Bairstow's not actually hit that as well as I thought. He's still cleared the fielder at mid-on by some way, mine.
A bunch of idiots are throwing carboard cup holders onto the field, leaving the stewards to clear them up and ultimately hold up play.

Since he came to the crease in the second innings at Trent Bridge Jonny Bairstow has scored 250 runs from 197 balls.

The difference between these two and the top order is they have shown how you have to play yourself in and get through that tough passage of play when you first come to the crease, and it is tough. This is Test match cricket.
Stokes came in and tried to play the role Bairstow has from ball one. He was reckless. There is a difference between being reckless and being aggressive.
Bairstow 116, Overton 87
Trent Boult ends his over with a bouncer that keeps Jamie Overton on strike for the next over.
Let's not forget Jamie Overton, who has been brilliant in keeping Jonny Bairstow company throughout this innings.

That was a proper cricket shot.
Four more from Jonny Bairstow!
My word.
