Time for us to call it a day. After covering two Test matches at once it has been a manic one!

England men romped to a 3-0 series win over New Zealand with a comfortable seven-wicket win at Headingley. Our Today at the Test highlights programme is on BBC Two at 23:15 BST tonight.

In Taunton, England women have bowled South Africa out for 284 to leave the game evenly-poised after day two. Highlights of that are on Red Button and iPlayer from 00:00 BST.

We'll be back at 10:30 tomorrow for day two in Taunton. Join us, it should be a great.

  2. 'We had to work hard for those 10 wickets'published at 18:27 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

Kate Cross speaking to Sky Sports: "Yeah we'd take that given how well Marizanne batted to be honest. There were phases where we took wickets and where we had to dig in. We had to work hard for those 10 wickets.

"It was just about being clear about how we were going to take wickets and bowl to Marizanne, as it got to the point where we were trying to farm the strike and make sure she didn't have it. I thought she maneuvered it so well. You don't get 150 without playing well so good on her."

On opening the bowling:"I was nervous. It was strange walking out without Katherine and Anya. We saw Katherine's speech at the beginning of the day and how emotional it was for her and it got to us as well.

"It does feel like we are always having to fight to prove to people were are good at Test cricket and there should be more of it.

"It's a really exciting little phase we've got with new faces coming in and I'm now a senior player, which is a bit sad. But a really proud day to be able to open the bowling."

And it took something spectacular to see the back of her...

Marizanne Kapp was absolutely brilliant today.

She came in with her side 45-4 and smashed a sensational 150 off 213 balls with 26 fours.

She stood up for her side.

Neither Bell or Wong seemed fazed at all. They both bowled with intent, attacking the stumps and creating opportunities. You couldn't tell they were debutants.

What makes Bell awkward is not only the swing but how it comes down from such a height, it makes it a lot harder for batters to pick up from that release point that is so much higher than the other bowlers.

What I liked about Issy Wong was her mindset. Yes she will go for runs, yes she will bowl a loose ball but she will also give you that magic delivery and she has got to keep that attacking intent.

She is a big game player and she proved that today. I like that England took a chance with them both playing, they could have easily gone for Freya Davies with a bit more experience that I think would have been a safe option.

It was a day of firsts too with debutants Issy Wong, Lauren Bell and Alice Davidson-Richards all pick up their first wickets for England.

Kate Cross had a really good day.

She started well with the new ball and set the tone for England throughout.

For South Africa to get to 284 they'll be very pleased to have recovered like that. The pitch looks quite flat and we've not seen a lot of spin so I think both sides will be fairly happy with where they're at and it sets it up quite nicely for the rest of the game.

The England media manager has confirmed that because the wicket was taken after 18:00 BST it means play is done for the day.

Cricket, eh. It really doesn't help itself sometimes.

Let's hope we're not talking about a really tight draw on day four...

  13. Close of playpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

This has taken us all by surprise a little bit.

We thought we could play until 18:30 BST, but it turns out you have to be on the field consistently after 18:00 for that to happen so we've now reached stumps.

That means eight overs have been lost today.

Mlaba b Cross 8 (SA 284 all out)

    All over!

Kate Cross pitches one on the stumps and Nonkululeko Mlaba attempts to defend but plays entirely the wrong line and ball crashes into middle stump.

From 45-4 and being put in this morning South Africa will have taken 284, without a doubt.

  15. SA 284-9published at 91.2 overs

Full from Kate Cross and Nonkululeko Mlaba has an almighty swipe and a thick bottom edge flies over the slip cordon for four.

All helpful runs for South Africa these.

If you're South Africa you wouldn't mind a few overs at England tonight.

    Another maiden for Nat Sciver.

The games feels like it is meandering at the moment - England aren't threatening the stumps enough.

Time for a change with Kate Cross replacing Lauren Bell.

  18. SA 280-9published at 90 overs

Lauren Bell over-pitches and Nonkululeko Mlaba drives through the covers for her first runs.

A nice shot to be fair.

We've had 90 overs - when was the last time that happened in a men's Test? Let alone the fact it happened before 18:00 BST.

  19. SA 276-9published at 89 overs

A maiden from Nat Sciver, who was a little bit wide to Tumi Sekhukhune.

Stephan has just raised an interesting point on TMS - is there much point South Africa chewing up these balls now or is it better to declare and have a go at England tonight?

Worth remembering that England have a debutant in Emma Lamb at the top of the order.
