England coach Brendon McCullum on Test Match Special: "I've not done a great lot to be honest. Ben Stokes has done a remarkable job with this team - he is a strong personality and a very good leader. There was a bit of risk when he was appointed captain but he is fully immersed in the mission and the guys certainly follow him. He has done a tremendous job and it is just my job to remain consistent with our messages and we don't waver just because pressure comes on.

"I am aggressive but I think Ben has got me covered. He came in last night and he said 'we should chase this tonight' and I was like 'skipper, I get the mindset - let's go and have a go and see'. He genuinely believes that anything is possible in cricket and that's a good mindset for a captain to have and exactly what this team needed.

"He is really pushing the envelope and sending a strong message that this is how the team will play and how the opposition can play. There will be sometimes where he pushes too far but that's OK, I'd rather that than him not pushing it far enough. Who knows what is possible for him?

"I didn't say anything to him after his first innings because I think he's bigger than that. It freed up the remainder of the changing room. It empowers us and puts pressure on the opposition."

Wow. Cannot believe what has happened to this England team! Watching them in the Caribbean was painful but this was the complete opposite! Playing New Zealand is always a great series as they play it in the right spirit. Highly competitive but with a smile on their face. Well done both teams. Can we have a five-match series please?

I just can't imagine India will match England this time. I don't think India will know what has hit him.

It will be difficult because of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah and they will have a world-class spinner but if it doesn't swing round England will get them. It will be very difficult for India to stop them.

India will have to adopt a similar approach or bat for a very long time.

I absolutely LOVE that picture of Jack Leach smiling at his Player of the Match medal. You cannot help but be delighted for him.

Player of the match Jack Leach: "It's nice to come back here after 2019! They were great memories then and now we're back again!

"I said last night that if we got the win then maybe 10 wickets here would go above that one not out! But that was also a very special day.

"The pitch did look dry, and Stokes came to me pretty much right away and said this might spin - so pressure on! But the seamers did a great job and made it easier for me. Matthew Potts was unbelievable yesterday and also could have ended up with five for.

"Jonny Bairstow could easily be up here too, he was unbelievable, what a knock.

"I enjoyed being able to open the bowling and get into the game early, it was good fun."

And finally from England's Player of the Series Joe Root: "I just try to play what's in front of me but one of the great things about this series is the way the guys keep getting more and more confident and it's such fun to play in and be part of. We are loving playing this way and it's great.

"It's important for us to enjoy this win. It's been a rocky road for the Test team recently so if you can't enjoy times like this then what do you play for? They are a great group of lads and we will celebrate well.

"I think we should leave what's happened in the past and concentrate on what's happened in the past few weeks instead. What Ben's done has been incredible in this series and I'm sure he's got a plan for the India Test and the rest of the summer. I'm loving it and long may it continue."

Here's more from England's Player of the Series Joe Root: "It was like playing 50 overs with Jonny today, just get him on strike! It's great to see him in this kind of form and play with that kind of freedom. I'm sure everyone watching in the ground and at home enjoyed it as much as we have from the dressing room.

"He was phenomenal, he has been for a long time but it's great for him showing the rest of the world that. Hopefully he can keep going on that trajectory he's gone on since coming back into the team. I can't see many bowlers enjoying going back to their mark when he's hitting it like he was today."

New Zealand's player of the series Daryl Mitchell: "We wanted to come here and win the series, it didn't go out way but I'm very proud of the boys' efforts throughout.

"For me I'm just really proud to be part of this group, they're a great bunch of lads. Any time you get to play test cricket is special and I'm just trying to enjoy every moment.

"The nature of international cricket now is you do have to keep adapting to formats and conditions pretty quickly so I'm quite used to that by now.

"Lord's is a special place to play so that was special but every hundred is important and I just wanted to make the most of batting here.

"Tom Blundell is a great man and we spend a lot of time together, he's had hell of a series and has done a great job for us."

Joe Root on Jonny Bairstow: "Jonny sees those moments at times and it is like he could write a film on it. When the crowd are up and a situation needs a hero he is generally someone who stands up to that and delivers.

"Wow - the way he struck the ball this week and on a more challenging wicket and more challenging situation was incredible. It felt like a 50-over game today and like I was just giving him the strike back.

"This is a world-class attack and they've got some serious bowlers and the way he's dismantled them in the last few weeks has been an absolute joy to watch."

Player of the series Joe Root on TMS: "It is special. It has been a strange few weeks from where we've been over the last few months in Test cricket. It has been quite a ride but it has been so much fun and really enjoyable. It is phenomenal to start Ben's era like that and hopefully we can go from strength to strength from here.

"I've enjoyed batting - it has been quite nice. It has been great. It has been a relaxed environment and just being able to solely focus on batting. There are a lot of elements to it that makes things a lot easier for me, but I'll support Ben however I can.

"I was excited when Brendon McCullum got the job and I didn't expect it. Not having the captaincy means I wasn't involved in those discussions and he has been brilliant in the dressing room. What a great start to his tenure and we'll see how things go moving forward."

Speaking of Joe Root, freed from the burden of captaincy, he has been named England's player of the series.

Daryl Mitchell is unsurprisingly named New Zealand's player of the series. He was simply outstanding.

Let's hear from both of them now...

We've seen a brand of cricket that we haven't seen from England before, but it all started from a performance from the former captain Joe Root at Lord's.

If he hadn't scored that century and got them over the line in the first Test I'm not sure we'd have seen the two performances that have followed.

Some final words from New Zealand captain Kane Williamson: "It's been an incredible series. In all three matches we had our opportunities and we were ahead of the game at times in each one but credit to England, they chose to counter attack when they were under pressure and they did it well, especially in this match.

"It is frustrating to lose the series but there were a lot of positives.

"There is clearly a new theme to England's approach and they did it extremely well. It was a highly competitive series but they won those fine margins and those moments that changed the outcome of the matches."

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson: "We opted for the balance of the side to go with three seamers. We were curious to whether it would turn but it's just one of those things. We made the decision not to play the spinner but it wasn't the easiest to bat on at any time.

"It would have been nice for the top four to contribute a bit more, and that's an area we want to be contributing more from.

"I certainly love playing for this group and being their leader. It has been an interesting time and challenging, but the appetite is still there from me."

Here's more from England captain Ben Stokes: "Matthew Potts has taken to it like a duck to water. There are times when he'll bowl 10 times worse than he did here and take 10 wickets. He has been incredible. Broady as well, he's 36 but he's bowled so many overs, he won't like me saying that!

"To see Jack Leach taking 10 wickets, I've never seen a dressing room happier about someone's individual success.

"When we got together to select the squad we wanted to pick the best players in every position and we've got the team for that. I'm happy that Ollie Pope has started to show the world what he's about.

"It's a new opposition on Friday, but we'll be thinking about us and trust me when I say we'll be coming out with the same mindset."

England captain Ben Stokes: "It has gone really well. To walk away with a 3-0 win over the best team in the world is very special. The team has been phenomenal.

"For me when I took over this job it was about more than results, it was about changing mindsets towards Test cricket. I wanted them to have fun and enjoy representing their country.

"But to say that we've turned it around so quickly is unbelievable. I can only do so much, there's a huge amount of credit due to Brendon for his influence and the players for buying into it.

"Trent Bridge was incredible but for me, being 55-6 here and the way we did it after that, was so pleasing for me. We could have gone back into our shells but we didn't and to have Jamie Overton go out there and play like that is amazing, to get that message across to someone on our debut that this is how we want to play."

We've got to be realistic - England had lost a lot of Test matches before this series and they played a style of cricket that was timid.

Everything was doom and gloom and I didn't think within three games we'd be talking about this style of cricket and having a really good go.

The dressing room - and we've been lucky enough to be around them in the hotel in the last few days - they seem so relaxed. They've still been at breakfast at 09:30 some mornings, when the game starts at 11.

They have freed the guys up to be brave and aggressive.
