West Indies all-rounder on Test Match Special

I've been impressed with Avesh Khan so far. It is quite easy for the ball to fly off the bat at Trent Bridge but he's bowled with some interesting fields and a nice length.

  2. Eng 134-4published at 13.4 overs

Good comeback from Avesh Khan who is able to keep Liam Livingstone honest for the next three balls. Just two runs taken from them.

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Former England batter on Test Match Special

    Wow!

India have just got this wrong. They are just bowling length at pace.

If these two can stay together for a few overs then 200 is back on the cards.

That has gone miles! The fielder just watched that sail over his head and the umpire isn't even waiting to see if they can get it back.

    What a shot that is.

  5. 6 runs

    Eng 131-3published at 13.1 overs

Boom! Stand and deliver from Liam Livingstone who, with minimum footwork, just picks up the length from Avesh Khan and launches it over long-on for another maximum. Pure power.

Umran Malik has gone for 40 from his three overs so far - it just shows that pace isn't always the solution in this format.

It is Dawid Malan's first half-century in 11 innings in T20 internationals.

Dawid Malan is doing it again.

  9. Eng 125-3published at 13.0 overs

Dawid Malan up to 62 off 33 balls now. Time for Liam Livingstone to get in on the action now.

Where has that gone!?! It is an incredible shot. He has hit him for six high over extra cover.

Umran Malik is bowling at 90mph and that is an absolutely remarkable shot.

    It is class.

  11. 6 runs

    Eng 123-3published at 12.4 overs

Always feels like he is playing for his place in this T20 team - not as eye-catching enough player for some - but he opens the pace and whacks Umran Malik for six over extra cover. Incredible shot.

We felt it was an important innings for Dawid Malan, and, as he always does, he has delivered again.

  13. 50 runs

Fifty for Malanpublished at 12.3 overs

Umran Malik back into the attack. He's not a particularly tall man at 5ft 9in and seems quite lithe. A Harold Larwood physique. All that

Dawid Malan gets his half-century off 30 balls with a four smashed in front of square. Well batted.

  14. Eng 111-3published at 12.0 overs

Three singles off the next four balls. Not quite enough at the moment...

Here's that clever slower ball which deceived Phil Salt.

  15. How's stat?!published at 15:30 British Summer Time 10 July 2022

    Andy Zaltzman
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

England's score of 86-3 after 10 overs was exactly the same as where India were at Edgbaston yesterday.

It is very brave to bring Ravindra Jadeja on from that end with Dawid Malan targeting that short leg-side boundary. It is just in his arc.

  17. 6 runs

    Eng 109-3published at 11.2 overs

Left-arm spinner Ravi Jadeja with some flat wide filth which Dawid Malan slaps to the boundary for four.

Next ball Malan thwacks him over the shorter boundary for a maximum.

It feels like 150-160 at the moment and they'll want a lot more than that...

  19. Postpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 10 July 2022

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Former England batter on Test Match Special

England haven't fully capitalised. They had a decent enough powerplay - they probably would have wanted another five or 10 runs - but the two quick wickets have stemmed the flow. They are going to have to do a lot of work in the last nine overs.

  20. Eng 98-3published at 11.0 overs

We are waiting for that big over from Liam Livingstone now to kick England on. Six balls which are mullered to the fence for 20 odd.
