I don't think that was the right option. It is almost the same shot as Dawid Malan.

He doesn't really bowl leg spin - you are taking on the angle when you're slog-sweeping and it can be dangerous.

That is a big, big wicket for India.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.5 overs

Moeen Ali c Patel b Ravi Bishnoi 0 (Eng 169-5)

Undone by the googly from Ravi Bishnoi as Moeen Ali hits against the spin, slices one up to backward point and is caught comfortably.

Gone first ball. Bishnoi has put the brakes on.

  4. Eng 169-4published at 16.4 overs

Moeen Ali comes out to the middle to join Liam Livingstone, who needs to strike a few more shots like this to get England over the 200 mark.

It was a superb knock by Dawid Malan.

Well bowled, Ravi Bishnoi. He was just a top edge and it went miles up in the air and Rishabh Pant didn't have to bowl.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.3 overs

    Malan c Pant b Ravi Bishnoi 77

Dawid Malan's superb knock is over. He goes for a slog sweep off Ravi Bishnoi but spoons the ball skywards and Rishabh Pant barely has to take a step to claim a comfortable catch.

The difference today has been Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah not playing and India not picking up those early wickets.

The bowling has been a little bit below par and a bit expensive. They are a bit one dimensional too.

  9. Eng 167-3published at 16.0 overs

Almost a run out opportunity off Harshal Patel's last ball as Liam Livingstone attempts to pinch a single, but is sent back. Harshal collects the ball on his follow through and has Livingstone to dive to make his ground. It would have been tight had it been a direct hit.

It was a free gift really, a full toss at knee height. Liam Livingstone put it away really well. It was almost the same delivery. He's missing his length by quite a margin and he's being punished.

Those two shots might just get Liam Livingstone going because by his high standards he wasn't timing the ball too well.

Eng 166-6published at 15:49 British Summer Time 10 July 2022

And another! It's nearly a carbon copy as once again Liam Livingstone's powerful wrists allow him to effortlessly pull it again for another maximum. England motoring now.

Harshal Patel just missed his length there and all Liam Livingstone had to do was get a little bit of bat on it.

  14. 6 runs

    Eng 160-3published at 15.3 overs

Former England captain Michael Atherton saying on Sky commentary that 200 is "bare minimum" given the pitch and batting conditions.

Harshal Patel gets a yorker wrong and is dismissively whipped by Liam Livingstone behind square for six.

  15. Eng 152-3published at 15.0 overs

Liam Livingstone is not quite as effective against Ravindra Jadeja who rattles through an over of spin. He is 15 off 13 balls at the end of the over. Dawid Malan on to 77 off 37 balls.

    Five overs to go.

Ravindra Jadeja has really got his length wrong today, that is the problem with just five bowlers as India have picked today.

We've seen some really good shots in the last few overs, in particular from Dawid Malan.

That is a massive six. Ravindra Jadeja really has to get it full with this field but it was just length.

  18. 6 runs

    Eng 150-3published at 14.2 overs

Ravindra Jadeja is tonked back over his head. Huge backlift from Dawid Malan, who uses his feet well and biffs it as straight as dime down the ground.

That is the Jonny Bairstow boundary, where he just destroyed New Zealand a few weeks ago. It is just such a tempting hit.

You have to be honest, at most grounds that would have been caught.

  20. 6 runs

    Eng 142-3published at 14.0 overs

Good finish to the over for England as Dawid Malan pings another six off the bat. It's an attempted yorker from Avesh Khan but Malan is able to get enough bat underneath the ball to lift it over the fielder at cow corner.
