Reece Topley's line was spot on - he gave no room at all. That set the whole tone and after that Craig Overton and Brydon Carse came in and kept the pressure on with the line and length and there was no respite for the Indian batters.

I didn't see any intent from the batters to put the England's bowlers off their line and length though.

Reece Topley's story is amazing. He has worked so hard to get back. There was a point where he was contemplating giving up the game because he'd gone through so many injuries but just to preserve and the way he's bowled for Surrey and made his way back into this side an taken his opportunity - he deserves his place in the team. Today is just the icing on the cake.

India skipper Rohit Sharma: "I thought we bowled pretty well to start with. England had the partnership in the middle with [Moeen] Ali and [David] Willey but I still thought the win was achievable. We just didn't bat well enough to get there.

"If you want to win games, you have to take all of those catches. We have to improve on that aspect of our game. We bowled well. To restrict a team like that under 250, I'm happy with that.

"It took me by surprise that the pitch didn't get better. We do need to understand when the conditions are slightly challenging and bat accordingly.

"We felt that when you are playing like a team like England, you need your five best bowlers and an all-rounder as well. It becomes more important for the top order to make sure one of the guys bats as long as possible.

"It's [the decider on Sunday] going to be an exciting one. There is a lot to look forward to. It is a quick turnaround for us. We will re-group and understand what went wrong and what we can do better as a team and as players. We will get to Old Trafford, see the conditions and adapt."

  6. 'We have showed great character today'published at 20:29 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

England captain Jos Buttler: A great turnaround. It is important to remember that. I'm delighted. We didn't bat at our best but we posted a challenging score and followed it up with the ball,

"Traditionally it has been a bat first wicket and is tough to chase so we knew we were always in the game and it is a mark of the guys that we continued to be positive. We didn't bat at our best but David Willey and Moeen Ali put on a great partnership to put up a challenging score.

"We then needed to take early wickets and put them under pressure and that's a whole group effort. The bowlers set the tone and the fielders back that up.

"Reece Topley has played brilliantly recently. To bowl like he did in the T20s and then come here and take 6-24 at Lord's. A special day.

"I'm happy to get the win. The team has been doing some great things over the years and that brings pressure. We want to continue that. We have pride in our performance. We haven't been at our best recently but have showed great character today."

  7. 'I'm just happy to play my part'published at 20:28 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

England bowler Reece Topley, who is named man of the match for his 6-24:"It was a terrific team performance to bounce back from the other day and I'm just happy that I played my part.

"It means a lot, it makes it all worthwhile to be honest. It was just over that stand where I had surgery three years ago so it has gone full circle which is crazy.

"It is everyone's dream to play for England. I just want to pull the shirt on as many times as I can and play my part. It is a privilege every time, whether it is a World Cup or a series against whoever.

"It is a big game at the weekend. I've just got to prepare for that and wrap up the series and then we'll deal with whatever is next."

India will be disappointed. The batting never turned up and it never got started from ball one.

The skills that they've got in the changing room is good enough to deal with the help that the bowlers were getting.

It never felt like there was positive intent to score runs apart from by Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.

It makes Sunday's game really interesting. England weren't at their best in the first game and then we haven't seen India's best with the bat today, even though England did bowl brilliantly. Hopefully we'll see a really good decider.
