    Kohli c Buttler b Willey 16 (Ind 31-4)

    HUGE!

David Willey has been absolutely superb with the new ball. Kohli looked in the mood but Willey just gets one to angle across him back of a length and he can only edge it behind where Buttler gratefully accepts another simple catch.

India sink into further trouble ...

A couple of soft dismissals from India have put them on the back foot in their pursuit of 247.

  3. Ind 31-3published at 11 overs

    Target 247

Phil Salt looks delighted, he'd only just come on the pitch in place of Topley who had just finished his bowling spell.

Suryakumar Yadav is the new batter.

This is set up beautifully now.

Pant has given his wicket away. He never found any momentum or rhythm.

    This game is bubbling.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.2 overs

    Pant c sub (Salt) b Carse 0 (Ind 29-3)

    Would you believe it?

Rishabh Pant has chipped a filthy full toss straight to mid-on!

Pant certainly can't believe it. It's a horrible ball from Carse, just two balls into his spell and just trying to get into some rhythm, but the batter has got it horribly wrong and tamely chips to Phil Salt, the sub-fielder.

He takes the catch low to the ground and England are delighted with that.

Does Virat Kohli hold the key for India here? There's still a bit for the bowlers in this pitch.

It is good discipline from England. It would have been easy to lose a bit of momentum after perhaps not getting enough runs. But they have been right on the money.

  8. Ind 28-2published at 10 overs

Powerplay done and it's been a wonderful start for England.

Reece Topley may have taken the two wickets but David Willey has been superb, conceding just six runs from his five overs.

Which way is this one going?!

Something is simmering. There is a sense of anticipation among the crowd here at Lord's, there's a buzz around the ground.

That was an absolute beauty. There is a nice little battle going on here.

  11. Ind 27-2published at 9.1 overs

There's a bit going on out there between David Willey and Virat Kohli.

The batter protests about something behind the bowler's arm and Willey waves the ball at him in a manner that says, 'you need to watch this, mate.'

Kohli is then beaten all ends up by a beauty. Here we go!

  12. Ind 27-2published at 9 overs

    Target 247

This could be a cracking finish. Rishabh Pant is the new batter and one thing's for certain is that when he's there, it won't be boring ...

A little bit of luck there for England. But if Topley gets on a roll and maybe gets one more, India could be in a bit of trouble here.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.5 overs

    Dhawan c Buttler b Topley 9 (Ind 27-2)

Strangled down the leg side and England have their second!

It's not the best ball Reece Topley has bowled by far but he won't care in the slightest. Jumps and smiles and high-fives all round.

Shikhar Dhawan goes to turn one off his hip, the ball drifting down leg, but he gets the faintest tickle of glove through to Jos Buttler and doesn't even wait for the umpire's decision.

England sensed an opportunity with that early wicket, that rush of adrenalin and belief that they can actually win this game. But India have shown that their class runs very deep in their batting line-up.

  16. Ind 27-1published at 8.3 overs

Ah. Topley beats Dhawan with a beauty before bowling him a rank full toss that the batter gratefully smashes away for four.

  17. Ind 23-1published at 8 overs

    Target 247

Three scampered singles from David Willey's over. England will just have to stay patient here.

Here's how Reece Topley took England's early wicket.

  20. Ind 20-1published at 7 overs

Topley corrects himself for the remainder of the over but those were two glorious strokes of confidence from Virat Kohli.

For a bit of context, at this same stage, England were 40-0.
