There were certainly some questionable shots played by England along the way, but India's bowlers were superb once again.
Ben Stokes played in the exact same way we'd seen him do in the recent Test matches, and with the same result.
But India's bowlers just kept chipping away with regular wickets and England struggled to get any real momentum or partnerships going.
It would have been difficult for England to make a worse start than they did at The Oval, so thankfully Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow managed to improve upon things considerably.
Thanks, Callum.
During the interval we'll bring you some of Jonathan Agnew's chat with Rob Key, and recap the best (?) bits of that first innings.
Right, time for me to hand over.
Ffion Wynne is going to take you through the interval and the start of the England innings.

England have a fighting chance with the kind of bowling they have.
Topley b Bumrah 3 (Eng 246 all out)
All over. England, once again, haven't seen out their 50 overs.
India will need 247 to win the second ODI and the win the series with a game to spare.
Jasprit Bumrah oversteps and Reece Topley has to free hit to attack. What can he do with it?
Nothing. Bumrah absolutely nails his yorker.
He does so again, and does that shave the off stump? Possibly.

Four former England cricketers have just groaned in unison out the back of the commentary boxes when the replay showed where that hit Bryson Carse.
They know that hurts.
Reece Topley gets off the mark with a drive through the covers for a couple.
There are 12 balls left in the innings. Will England see the innings out?

Carse is out lbw and that is a painful way to get out!
Carse lbw b Prasidh 2 (Eng 240-9)
This is such a weird wicket.
Brydon Carse is moving all around the crease and he ends up getting hit on the inside of the leg and he's down on the floor and we all just assume he's injured and that is what is going on.
But Prasidh Krishna does a little appeal and Richard Kettleborough raises his finger.
Carse trudges off, and I presume in a fair bit of pain.
A mix-up between Brydon Carse and Craig Overton but they get away with it as Shreyas Iyer throws to the wrong end.
Rohit Sharma looks unhappy.

That is the wicket that India would have wanted. A very important wicket and invaluable in the context of the games.
Willey c Shreyas b Bumrah 41 (Eng 237-8)
Straight down long-on's throat.
David Willey tries to clear the ropes again, but ends up going straight and picks out Shreyas Iyer, who is about five yards in from the boundary.
Shreyas juggles but eventually holds on.
England may struggle for 250 now.

Short ball. Poor delivery. Willey got what he deserves with that six.
Six more!
Poor delivery from Jasprit Bumrah but David Willey pulverises a pull over square leg.
He's up to 38. He's batted well to be fair.
Tidy over from Hardik Pandya, with England only able to add three singles and two leg byes.
India should be bowling the final over now. They are a fair bit behind.
Willey 30, Overton 6
Good running. Craig Overton squirms one into the leg side and England get through for a couple.
That follows a nice-looking bunt down the ground for two earlier in the over.
Mohammed Shami finishes with 1-48 for the day. He got the important wicket of England skipper Jos Buttler.
