That was one of the shots of this white-ball series.

It is not textbook, but he has got his front foot out of the way and carved it well into the stands.

Prashant Kunnath: Too many singles. Very poor from England this. The minute Pandya was dismissed they should have brought the field up and had Topley bowling at the new batsman. You have to build pressure and make Jadeja get his runs the hard way!

    Need 29 from 60 balls

Mark Wood or Jofra Archer would come in handy now. With those two injured England skipper Jos Buttler turns back to David Willey who has not been at his most threatening today.

    WOWWWW.

Rishabh Pant responds by getting down on one knee and launching Willey into the party stand.

    Massive.

This is now Rishabh Pant's highest score in ODI cricket.

    Need 39 from 66 balls

The flash mob outside our window has shrunk in numbers. Maybe they're all India fans and have nipped off to find a TV screen.

Rishabh Pant gets down low to sweep in ungainly fashion. It gets him four and takes him to 88.

I may as well say it now... Rishabh Pant has never scored an ODI century.

  6. Ind 212-5published at 38 overs

    Pant 82, Jadeja 3

We've just seen a shot of the England dressing room and there's a number five propped up in the window. I assume that must be one of the signals from the analyst.

I guessing it doesn't just stand for five wickets. I think the England players could do that maths themselves.

  7. Ind 208-5published at 37 overs

    Target 260

Argh... that was a chance and David Willey knows it.

Ravi Jadeja sets off for a crazy single having hit the ball straight to mid-on. If Willey had got the throw away cleanly England would have been in with a shout but instead he fumbles.

You can't afford to miss those chances. Willey shakes his head.

It'll be Moeen Ali to Ravindra Jadeja in the next over...

  9. Ind 206-5published at 36 overs

    Need 54 from 84 balls

Ravindra Jadeja is the new batter. He can play, obviously, but there's not a lot to come after these two.

Jadeja keeps the strike with a single at the end of the over.

    Hardik had been flying...

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.3 overs

    Hardik c Stokes b Carse 71 (Eng 205-5)

Just wait a minute! Just as England's hopes were disappearing in the distance, Hardik Pandya is out. It comes from a little bit of Ben Stokes magic with a catch at mid-wicket. Hardik tried to pull a Brydon Carse bouncer but Stokes leaps forward to cling on.

    Is this the opening?

  12. Ind 205-4published at 35.2 overs

I can just about hear the car revving up over the horns of the India fans. Back-to-back boundaries to Hardik Pandya now.

  13. 6 runs

    Ind 197-4published at 35 overs

    Need 63 from 90 balls

There's no change for England. In fact things have just got a lot worse! Rishabh Pant cuts for four and then launches Craig Overton back over long-on in emphatic fashion.

India are cruising this and an Australian looks like he is going to win The Open...

    James Anderson
England bowler on Test Match Special

Jos Buttler may want to turn to Reece Topley. He only has three overs left, but it is going to get to the point where there is no point in saving him if this partnership continues. They need a wicket.

  15. Postpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 17 July 2022

What plan have England come up with over their juice?

Craig Overton will continue. India need 77 from 96 balls.

Time to gamble and bring on Topley, no point saving your best bowler for the final overs if its all over by then.

  17. Ind 183-4published at 34 overs

    Need 77 from 96 balls

Brydon Carse stops the flow of boundaries with his all-effort bowling at decent pace. That's unlikely to be enough for England now. They need wickets and they need them fast.

The players are taking a drink.

    James Anderson
England bowler on Test Match Special

England could learn something from Hardik Pandya. When he was bowling he wasn't just looking to take wickets, he was looking to build pressure.

He bowled four dots at Jason Roy before getting him out. England need to start bowling some dot balls too.

After a small meeting in the middle, Jos Buttler turns to Brydon Carse. He should have had Hardik caught at fine leg earlier remember.

  20. Eng 179-4published at 33 overs

Two fours from Pant to end Overton's over!

This is all going India's way. Overton shakes his head as he takes his cap. It's the hundred partnership too.
